Hello PS!
As a new PSer, I want to extend my very heartfelt thanks to all of you for sharing your knowledge, insight, experiences, pictures and gorgeous jewels. It is because of you (and my beloved DH!) that I have this beautiful 25th anniversary ring.
My story began last year when my DH surprised me with the idea of upgrading my original wedding set: 1.24 G VS2 MRB in a Tiffany setting with 1.25 ct half eternity band from Tiffany, both in yg. I love it to this day and never dreamed that we would upgrade. However, since he suggested.... That led to internet research which led to PS and you can fill in the blanks from there!! I found OECs and fell completely in love, decided that I would love to see the newly cut AVRs and contacted GOG (after watching a gazillion of their very educational videos!). Jonathan and David were terrific to work with, informative, funny and very patient with my newbie questions. My original request was simple (or so I thought!): please find me diamond just like Diamondseeker"s. Little did I know! (And DS, it remains one of my most favorites, my inspiration! ) However, they had just received this stone, perhaps known to you: a 3.21 K SI1 with a blush hue. My initial thought was that it would be too big and my sweet spot was really G-H, VS2, 2-2.5 ct-ish. HOWEVER!!! I fell in love, 'wore' it around the house for awhile (yes, lost it twice in the car oogling it during my son's soccer practice ), and decided to go for it.
Then came the setting decision which was MUCH harder than deciding on the stone. In the long run and after much deliberation, I decided to go with Erika Winters' Grace setting. I wanted a classically elegant setting with a nod to the past, delicate milgrain and metal work, smallish donut so that I can stack with minimal gap... It is everything that I could have wished for! I debated the metal color, but decided to stay with yg as I lean toward warmer colors, and had the head made in platinum. Erika was wonderful to work with. She responded quickly, patiently and thoroughly to my questions and delivered the ring ahead of schedule. I hope the pictures capture her design, detail and workmanship because they are exquisite. I look forward to working with both GOG and Erika (sorry DH!) in the future!!
And a shout out to Martin Fuller Appraisals as well. Martin was a wealth of generously shared knowledge and I would happily return to him for future appraisal needs. His time was highly priced, but the information very valuable to a relative newbie like myself.
Ok, on to the good stuff! Again, thank you to PS and for letting me share!
