4th of July!

Hi girls!

I haven't been very active on the posts lately...but I was wondering what your plans were for this weekend and whether you had any "feelings" about this being THE weekend!.

We're going up North (near Cape Cod) to a friend's house and it should be a blast!....one of my BF's friends proposed there a few years back. I had not even thought about this being a possiblity but then my best friend asked "ohhh....what if this is it?"!. I said no way, but that was enough to plant a seed and drive me insane from now until we get back from the trip.....should I kill her?

I will do my very best to not think about this and have a great weekend no matter what!. I have no "gut" feelings about it, so maybe I will stop thinking about it before we actually go!...

How about you guys? anyone doing something special? any "gut" feelings out there?

I was hoping he was going to do it this past weekend, but it didn't happen. My ring was ready on Saturday for pick up, but since our jeweler is out of town (Austin, and we are in Houston), my bf would have to drive there to pick it up on Saturday. I didn't think he would, but just secretly hoping he make throw me off and surprise me. I do have a feeling it will happen soon for me, though. Probably sometime this week, I hope.

My bf mentioned that the ring will be in his possession tomorrow (not sure why he told me this, maybe because he knows I like to know these details, but now he can't really surprise me as much). I don't think he wil wait long to propose only because we have already started planning.

We have a meeting with his church matrimony advisor this Thursday, and have arranged 2 appointments with the photographer and videographer on July 3rd. I know we are doing things backwards, but I feel like we are on a tight deadline, since we have already set our date for next April and put down the deposit for the venue. I'm already stressed just thinking about everything that we have to do for the wedding. If it was up to us only, we'd rather have a destination wedding. But it's not. Such is life...

Well, July 2nd is my real birthday even though our little trip was this weekend, and I told him in no uncertain terms that I DO NOT WANT IT FOR MY BIRTHDAY! He told me back that, without any doubt, it WILL NOT happen on my birthday. I''m good with that, but it does pretty much take the possibility out of the weekend for us....

Now, Tuesday night with actual fireworks would be nice.... but we''ll have my kids with for that, so never mind. I''m thinking there are a few possible July proposals looming around here.... ??

I too was actually thinking 4th of july weekend would be it.. Since it would be the perfect opportunity!!! but then i thought.. since i think it would be so perfect its not gonna happen.... which is why im not setting myself up for disappointment AGAIN...

try to stay calm and not think too much about it.. its very disappointing if it doesnt happen when you really think it is...it stinks

I think it might happen for me this weekend.... He''s only had the ring since Friday, but he really can''t keep things from me very well. I asked him why he was so late getting home from work on Friday (I knew he was picking up the ring because the $$$ from his dresser was gone). Sneaky, I know

he said "Traffic was bad" and laughed. I was like "1 1/2 hrs late??!!" I think it''s going to kill him because he can''t keep a secret from me....

The only problem is if we go visit his family for the weekend (5 hrs away) then I don''t think it will happen. He won''t do it around all those people. We''ll see!!! Fingers crossed!!!!!!!1

awww, how sweet!

I just felt I was spending way too much time here and I needed to keep living my life!...I was bordeline obsessing which is just not fun at all!. So I wanted to "cool" things off a little. The good news is I started feeling less crazy and more content with MY life (joined a dance class, going back to school, etc)...bad news is, I think my BF felt this "cooling off" and I think he took it as: "this girl got cold feet!"....

So everything might take longer than what I had thought....but I *think* I''m ok with that...I want us both to be happy and ready when it *does* happen and if he doesn''t feel it''s right for him now because of my newly found sense of "non-urgency, my life goes on and I love it", then I want him to have his time and for him to understand I didn''t get cold feet, and I am still head over heels even when I''m not mentioning weddings/engagements all the time!

Don''t know if that makes much sense!

But anyway....thanks for the note!

I do still check in and follow all the stories!!!

Thanks jen....I keep thinking he really wants it to be special and wants me to be surprised so that makes me smile and makes it easier.

I dying for some new proposal stories though... im like a big cheeze ball lol

We don''t have any real plans for the 4th yet. I might go to GA, he might come here. I *might* take off Monday, so it''s a long weekend, especially if I have anything *extra special* to celebrate.

I''ve not really given a whole lot of thought to it being on the 4th, I guess because I thought it''d be before then.

But, I do think getting engaged and then seeing fireworks is incredibly romantic, and sweet. We''ll see what the boy does. It may end up being in Cali, who knows?

Around here *I live in a small town* there are festivals and stuff the weekend before the holiday, so there will be fireworks on Friday and Saturday nights, as well as on the real holiday. That''d give him three opportunities, I suppose. If the boy''s even thinking that way.

I''m trying to give up trying to guess anything on this. I''ve been wrong time and time again.

I think that''s the way he wants it, too.

YAY Fourth of July weekend is coming up! We do have plans for the weekend. My family has a lake house that we will be going to for the weekend. My FF and I haven''t been able to go this summer yet, so we are both excited!

We have a boat and a new jet ski that we love riding together. It''s in the country so the stars come out so much bright/clearer than here in the city. We also like to watch the sunset together on the lake with all the beautiful colors reflecting on the water! Very romantic if I must say so myself.

His Mom is actually coming to stay at the lake with us for the first time, which will be nice. I''m so happy that my parents and his get a long so well. It''s really a nice to have that "one big happy family." His Mom adores me (she always wanted a girl, but had two boys) and we get a long great. We don''t agree on EVERYTHING, but we respect each others opinions.

I''m not involved in the ring process so I don''t know what his plans are. I do know that when he can afford the ring, he will make the big purchase. If he had the money, we would already be engaged, but we are young and he completely supports himself (school, apartment, the whole nine yards) which I am SO VERY proud of him for.

So...I really doubt he already has the ring, and even if he did I doubt it would be this weekend. Nonetheless we will have a great time together watching fireworks and being with our families.

Just wanted to say that I am so excited for all of you girls with the big weekend coming up. It''s very likely we may have a few new brides-to-be around here soon! And also, even if it doesn''t happen this weekend, I hope you enjoy your time with family, great food, fireworks, and festivals. July 4th weekend was the first time FI told me he loved me four years ago, in Washington DC just before the big fireworks show, so I love celebrating this time of year with him. Thinking of all of you! Good luck!

Just wanted to report I don''t think it''s going to happen this weekend

We are going to visit his family.... There''s about a 1% chance of him proposing there.... I wouldn''t want there either though, I don''t really like to be the center of attention.

I hear you, Aquarius, I''m rooting for anything in July. It seems like with every upcoming month, I think, "ooh, there''s 30 some odd days of opportunity."

But it will be interesting to see how many of us come back after the fireworks to say, "YAY! I get to marry the man of my dreams!!"

My boyfriend''s mother is coming to visit us for the weekend, so I can pretty much guarantee it''s not going to happen! Maybe I can get her to have a little chat with her son though...
