Thank you Stone Cold! My finger size is 5.75.

I think this is the basic setting style (I know, it''s boring, I''ll figure out a way to dress it up) that I''m leaning toward. The exposed girdles make me think Super Ideals would be better than old cuts in terms of durability.

Hi Gailey, I ADORE your ring. And I''ve tried a few on already. And there is a memoire (I think) that is close to the one Catmom has and I really loved it. I went just yesterday and tried on a couple more bands... and I really love the .40 size in the middle. And I want the ring to be very low, so while I adore the nightingale style, the profile I''m going to be going for is less exciting.

Now I''ve got to figure out if I want to do Ideal cut H&A stones or Old Europeans. Any thoughts on the subject?

Still trying to figure out bezel versus single prong as well. So feel free to chime in.
I think that the greater the degree of graduation between the stones, the more ''antiqued'' it will look and that will lend itself to an older style of cut for the diamonds, along with bezelling and milgraining etc.

I think you need to decide n whether or not you want a ring that looks like an antique or one that looks more modern first of all.
I love the Jazz Bezel Band, and feel it''s very contempory, but think that it would work with either modern super ideals or with OECs. So I''m torn. I would want the OECs to be perfectly round though, because out of round bezels would drive me batty. Which is a tall order, and why I am leaning toward Super Ideals. Finding 5 super ideals in H-I color of the right size is going to be much easier than finiding five truly ROUND OECs of H color and good clarity.

And then there is the performance issue. On the one hand I adore the personality of OECs. On the other I already have an asscher with plenty of personality. So.. why not go for little firecrackers on my finger?

So my solution is that we go to Tiffany''s this weekend in lieu of the outlets to try some on for you.

There;s that. We could hit Davidson Lict in Walnut Creek as well. And that other stoer that was closed when we were there last. Have a nice lunch. Then go tree shopping. :-)

.15 .30 .45 is where I''m leaning now that I think about it. Hmm.

Davidson was a pain last time I was in there. I don''t like the owner-ick.

Oh that''s right. Okay, we skip them. No big deal. I''m flexible.

I don''t know... the outlets are a good time and there is restoration hardware and le crueset, both of which we wanted to hit. Plus it''s nice drive for the boys. Walnut Creek is a mall, and I don''t need anything really. Just a the perfect (and utterly elusive) red sweater which will show up when it wants to apparently, and not a second sooner. Tiffany doesn''t have graduated bands except for the the one, which I tried on last time I was there and was underwelmed with it''s lack of omph as a stand alone piece.

So for me, outlets make sense.

I think maybe instead of looking at carat weight you should look at diameter? Do you want the graduation to be significant or subtle?

WOW. Stone Cold. You rock. The setting is even close to what I want! So cool! THANK YOU!

Decisions Decisions. I don't know which I like better now. They are all gorgeous. You've given me great food for thought.

Cehra... I want it to be look like a band. Not like a 5 stone engagement ring. So subtler would probably be better for that. But I'm also a bling whore... and the bigger centers are seriously winking at me. LOL.

Can I get folks to vote?

I put a poll in Hangout (more traffic) with the images to see what other''s thought.

This is so much fun. And Stonecold... I can''t thank you enough.

No prob. :)

Both are lovely! Thank you DT. I would love a .5 carat center for this project. My husband is going to kill me. LOL.

I think .50 in the middle is great. But really you can do .45 without an appreciable difference in appearance, but with a very appreciable difference in price!
