redorange or BBgreen

spinel and chrome is so so gray....the color is far from a intense chrome green....garnet might be dark. red orange spess for me.

The last two photos I don''t trust, and are probably a lot browner in person. The spinel is too grey, although nicely cut. The Barry green tourmaline is okay, but it doesn''t knock my socks off, and might be darker in person, and the chrome green tourmaline looks too yellow. I always think Tanga garnets are too dark IRL, the only red family garnets I personally like are very fine umbalites. Well, hows that for disabling?

The "best" stone of the lot is probably the spess. Which one would I choose personally? Probably the first blue spinel, but that's personal taste only - the spess would be a very close second.

You really can''t go wrong with a Barry stone, the chrome tourmaline has a nice bright color too.

Probably the green tourmaline because its two toned. I like that look. The spinel? Its cut well so would work if you liked grayer stones.

I love green but don''t like the two-toned look, so I''d go with the other stone cut by Barry, the Tanga garnet.

thanks to all that replied, I think Im going to go with the spinel she seems to like it and the price iseems great $100 USD shipped does that seem to be a good deal for this stone?

Its a liitle short of 2 ct''s Im ordering from Tan @ oddessygems. what do think about the price? is a good value for the stone?

The spinel is very pretty. Can''t wait to see it when you get it.

It''s a good price considering it''s well cut, but expect it to be very grey and dark, especially in sunlight.

Ditto TL.

Violet blue spinel = too dark and too gray
Tanga garnet = not bad but not outstanding either
Chrome tourmaline = looks yellowish but it’s a bright stone
Green tourmaline = looks on the darkish side but could still be a pretty stone
Red spessartite = huge window and potentially a dark stone
Orange red spessartite = Not too sure about it.

I hope the spinel turns out well for you.

def. not that chrome..looks like any normal green tourmaline to me..

Well, that is a diverse set of stones!

Personally, I wouldn''t get any of them, though. None of them really stand out to me.

Thanks again for all your advice I have chosen to wait after reading the comments "I wouldn''t get any of them, though. None of them really stand out to me"

times running out, but im still on the look out for a 7.3 - 7.7 mm round beautiful stone for my girlfriends birthday gift in early june

post if them if you find them please

Thanks!!

Roseboy - backtrack for a second.

What''s her favourite colour?
Does she wear yellow or white gold?

That helps narrow things down considerably. Then you need to think of the shade of colour she might like - for example, blues - most women like a blue gemstone BUT blues range from warm (with a touch of purple) to cold (like the one you posted that looks grey). Does she wear warm vibrant colours? When she''s looking at flowers does she look at the pale or vibrant colour ones - that should give you a clue!

My personal favourite of the ones you posted is the BB blue/green tourmaline as you can clearly see both colours which (for me) makes an interesting look.

I''d look for another Spinel if that''s the color she prefers, one that''s lighter. It''s a durable everyday wear kind of stone, which is a plus.
