It's been awhile since I undertook a colored stone project. But when I read that Barry was cutting a sapphire I did the old nostalgic site stalking and nabbed it.

However now I find myself with way too many ideas and options of setting since it's a standard 6.5mm round.

Lately I've been getting more statement piece jewelry due to DSS. Not sure how I might want to set this so it stands out. But super open to ideas!

I just know I don't want it to look like an engagement ring. And not a 3 or 5 stone either has I have many 3 stones and a really bling 5 stone.

Ideally I'd like to keep it around 500$, and plan to keep an eye on LT for good deals. I'm also comfortable setting it in silver.

Maybe a toi et moi? A wide bezel style? Put it into another bezel stacker to add to the set? Gah. Too many options.

Sorry. Meant to note it's 1.41 ct, unheated, from Tanzania and is a color changer from medium purple to medium blue per Barry.

I haven't gotten the stone yet but am quite confident I'll keep it since I have yet to return any stone I've gotten from him!

Oh I'm so glad you got this one! I just love the color. I tried for it last night but you were quicker than me. But now I get to see more pics of it :Up_to_something: I love bezels so that's my initial recommendation!

I'm also a fan of bezels. My other Barry sapphire is in a bezel stacker.

For those of you who bought from My Diamond Zone on ebay, would you recommend them?

Ha! You were the one that beat me! Dibs if you ever sell! ;)

I'd halo it to add finger coverage, maybe Jeff Davies could do something affordable? Toi et moi would be cool too, do you have another similar sized stone that could work?

What a lovely color! I love the Toi re Moi idea. That could be gorgeous with the same size in another stone with a color relationship between them.

What is 'toi et Moi'?

It's a two stone ring.
I had one made with an Ethiopian opal and tsavorite a few months ago and it's now one of my favorite rings. _37742.jpg

As far as other stones go. I have some loose stones around or I could reset some of my stackers.

Your opal and tsavv ring is glorious! I imagine a lighter or darker blue, or violet or even slightly blue green would look great with it.

The purple garnet is also 6.5mm. I attached his photo here for easier color comparison. Size matches but maybe too saturated.

Hmm. Will take more pics when sapphire arrives and pics of it next to possible options. I also have some aquaprase cabs and Malaysia garnets that are more pastel.

Thanks! I love my tsavorite and opal combo too!

Yes, please post pics when it arrives next to the gems. How fun! The garnet is more saturated, but let's see how it looks next to the new one.

The tsav and opal ring is just very 'alive'. It's truly interesting and each gem has its own spirit, yet they are clearly a pairing too. It's truly interesting and captivating. That's the kind of ring that I would spend a long time just looking at, contemplating the relationships between colors and shape and position.

Yes it's one of my favorite rings for that reason! And of course the opal is super alive in person.

A lot of stock rings are 6.5 mm you should be able to find some eBay. Let me see.

I've actually had a very similar style in the past to that semi bezel. In the end I sold it because it was a little too plain. :/

I got it!
I'd call it more color shift than color change since even in daylight it's still a bit purple.

Here some terrible phone pics in the waning sunlight. 20170911_184206.jpg

And pics with the other sapphires.

Oof. The trillion is really greasy. It's not that silky/included.

So I love the stone and the gentle periwinkle hues. But it's not quite as saturated as I usually prefer (see other blue sapphires lol). It goes nicely with my other barry sapphire which is an icy pale purple so I was thinking of maybe a rose gold stacker to add to the stacker set.

It's very lovely! The lavender blue color is lively even if it's a lighter tone and slightly less saturated than some of your others. It looks vibrant. I can imagine it well as a stacker...or still as a Moi et Toi ring.

So pretty! Love the colors esp in sunlight. Can I get in line after NKOTB if you sell?

It's so beautiful!! I think it would look lovely in rose gold.

I think the bezel has really help bring out the color.

I'm a big fan of bezels, it's lovely

So honestly as a stacker it sort of steals the show. So for.now this is my favorite way to wear it.

Random question but anyone have good recommendations for steam cleaners? I find my bezel rings harder to clean. ..
