8mm Help shoppers

So my mother in law gave me a setting, that was her brother’s. She didn’t know anything about it, but didn’t have a use for it and it doesn’t fit her hand. It has no mark, but looks like it was sized at some point.

We took it into her local guy, he said it’s platinum 900/1000, so might be older. He said It should fit a roughly 8mm stone. The prongs will need to be re built but there are little bezel set diamonds that flank the center, 3 on each side. We saw a lovely blue zircon that fit, he quoted $200 for the stone, not the rebuilding and setting. However, I wanted to look around.

So, fabulous shoppers, I wasn’t planning a project so the cost can’t be too high. But who looks a gift horse in the mouth?

Anyone have fun not too expensive ideas?

So, these are the terrible photos I to in the la Quinta bathroom 1/2 between Florida and Chicago. My apologies, iPhone harsh lighting and fur and real babies all wondering what I’m doing. The setting is next to my 1 ct diamond engagement ring for comparison sake in size.

I’m kind of s blue girl but live to wear pinks and pruples and have always had green on my wish list.

Do you like blue topaz (natural, electric blue etc). You could contact Bespoke Gems and ask if he can cut a stone to measure your setting
