9-11 Never Forget!!!!!!!!!!!!!

@autumngems , I am so sorry about the trauma of today's date - in addition to all the rest. I hope there has been healing and that it will continue.

I was in California with a baby - I didn't watch tv or listen to radio. I was walking on the street, thinking how weirdly quiet it was, and my husband came home. He said "So you've heard" - probably thinking I was waiting for him.
"Heard what?"
"We're under attack."
And then began days of CNN.

I will never forget.

We were having a snack and a friend called and just said, "Turn on your TV", and hung up. We were both shocked. I couldn't believe my eyes and thought it must be some sort of wacky movie.

My DH worked at the airport at the time, and went straight away to help with diverted flights from around the world. It was a strange time.

A close friend decided at the last minute to change her trip and didn't go on Flight 93. She lived to tell the tale...with chills down the spine.

Another acquaintance missed her flight to New York because it was oversold. She got bumped. She would have been in one of the Twin Towers the next morning.

Seemingly small events with life-changing effects.

I too, will remember the events of 9/11.

ETA: It was soooo eery to see zero jets in the skies above. The only other time I've seen this was when COVID hit, and all travel pretty much stopped.

Oh my @SparklieBug so unbelievable the close calls. Our community was hard hit and still is with 911 illness. So sad.

No words...

Oh, I'm so sorry.
That's even worse than my brother being murdered in prison by a fellow inmate.

So very sorry!

Thank you

@autumngems, I’m so sorry. I wish there was something I could do or say to take some of your pain away today. Unfortunately I know that‘s impossible. I hope you are spending today with people you love.

Thank you

I hate September, it's the worst month for me, the 11th even more so, in addition to the terrorist attacks I lost 3 people on Sept 11th (different years) my mother-in-law passed of old age, my niece was murdered by her husband and my mother passed from cancer. It's a day I try not to dwell as it's too hard.

So sorry for these losses that all occurred on the same date. Hugs to you!

I watch the documentaries on the History channel every year on 9/11. I guess it is my way to pay tribute to those who lost their lives on that day and the many who lost their lives later from working at the site. I never want to lose sight of the horror and disbelief that befell us all on that day. I will never forget and honor all of those innocent souls that lost their lives over this horrific day.

I sit here with tears in my eyes a little earlier than usual because I am tired.
Hard to believe its been another year already.
It is hard to believe that children born on 9/11 are 23 years old this year.
There are adults graduated from college who all they know about 9/11 is what was taught in school or their parents told them while for many of us it is so ingrained in our minds We Will Never Forget!!!!!!
Hug your loved ones close and share your story with the younger generation as to why they must Never Forget!!!!!!
Bless you one and all!!!!!

I will never forget, Karl. Thank you for this thread. Thank you for your thoughtful posts that continue to remind everyone who was not around to witness that day what it was like and what it meant.

I was at my computer watching a diamond forum when the first plane hit. My husband, whose office was a stone's throw from the Twin Towers, was in Massachusetts at a retreat that day. He didn't even know of the attack until I phoned the retreat center to tell them. He drove home with another man who was from New Jersey. The other man couldn't get home because the bridges between Connecticut and New Jersey were all shut down so he spent the night at our house. Neither of the men could get into New York to their offices, which they wanted to do, because there was no transportation. They wanted to get to their offices and see what damage was done. They had no idea.

Meanwhile everyone who had managed to live through the inferno, was struggling to escape New York and all the bridges were closed. Communication was down. People were covered in ashes. No one yet knew the true horror of what had happened.

Thank you Karl. I will never forget
I was right there that day
I remember it like yesterday

Though it seems many in the younger generations have already forgotten
If history is not accurately taught it will be repeated
Mark my words

The day the whole world cried with you and for you
From the otherside of the planet the scariest day of my life - i can not begin to imange the horror of living through it for brave New Yorkers - the most resilient people anywhere
We have a firefighters memorial in Christchurch with steel gurders from the twin towers and a memorial stair climb for firefighters at the Auckland sky towers held every year on 9 11

I know it’s a day late, I still thought I’d share my daughter’s pic from last night.
