99.2% of recent US Covid deaths were unvaccinated people

Did you have vertigo after getting the jab? Do you mean vertigo in the sense that the room seems to spin at 200-300 miles an hour and you can't even get up, you just lie there until the rom stops spinning. It may or may not be accompanied by vomitting (I did not throw up in 2017 but I did when I had the second one in 2018. They were truly truly the two most horrible experiences I've ever had in my entire life.

I also have daily dizziness (swaying, unsteady, feeling like you're in a boat) which I am learning to cope with while I go about my everyday business.

Oh dear, I do occasionally have cold sores, like 2-3 times in my life. I suspect I may have dormant EBV (tested for active which came back negative).

Thank you so much for responding and for your kind wishes.:)

I had vertigo that started the second day after the jab and lasted for roughly 3 weeks although the last week was significantly improved.

This was my first and only experience with vertigo.

The room wasn’t spinning, instead everything was rapidly moving back and forth. The movement was constant and absolutely nothing helped. I would lay down or close my eyes and everything would still be oscillating back and forth. I didn’t vomit, but when I finally could read it made me feel nauseated.

Apparently this is consistent with HSV-1 (I also had a cold sore at the time). The specialist believes it was just a flare up due to systemic stress that may have been brought on by the vaccine or could be completely unrelated. The doctor at the ER was the one who called it a vaccine side effect so this is what I believed until speaking with the specialist on Wednesday.

I have two autoimmune diseases and they were not affected by the jab.

All said and done, I am impressed with the medical care I received. Anything possibly vaccine related is being taken very seriously.

@Phoenix my DH has inner ear problems as well with a horrible crisis like your second one once in 2011 and recurring much much milder incidents every now and then (3x /year, maybe).

He hasn't had any problems whatsoever with the BioNtec/Pfizer vaccine.
I know every case is different, but maybe this information is helpful for you!

Keeping fingers crossed for you!

Agree, now can anyone guarantee there will be no negative (future) side effects with these drugs after vaccination? of course not!

What makes you think the negative future side effects of the vaccine will be worse than the future side effects of the virus? Based on science and medical knowledge we only have reason to think any long term symptoms from an mRNA vaccine will be less severe than long term effects from the virus.

*Just wanted to add and amend with new vaccine numbers administered.
I was working with outdated information so my numbers were too low in previous post.
3.74 BILLION shots of Covid vaccine administered worldwide.
Yes, billions of shots given.
A rate of 31 million a day
340 million in America alone

World population: 7.9 billion

Delta is ripping through areas with low vaccination rates. Some vaccinated folks are getting infected but not particularly sick. Unvaccinated folks are not faring well. A friend works in Missouri and shipped a patient all the way to Tennessee yesterday. There were no hospitals with open beds closer.

@chemgirl, many thanks again for responding. It does indeed sound like you had vertigo for sure, just the effect was slightly different from mine.

Did you have it everyday for 3 weeks? How were you able to function? I know when I had mine, I was just lying flat on the floor/bed and couldn't even get up to go to the bathroom. The first time I was hospitalised as I didn't know what it was. They even had to give me the bedpan.:( But my vertigo lasted for like an hour each time and then it stopped.

Glad to hear that you no longer have it. It is truly debilitating.

Hmm...worrying to read about the cold sore. I just happen to be on the onset of one. Maybe I should get some antibiotics and get rid of it first before I have the jab. Whether or not vertigo is brought on by the HSV-1 virus, it may not be worth risking it. I am isolating as much as possible, so hopefully fingers crossed....

At least it seems autoimmune conditions are not affected by the jab.

Glad that you received prompt medical attention. And thank you so much once again for responding and giving me important information. x

You could get an antiviral for the cold sore. You might even consider staying on a low dose as prevention while you get the vaccine and for a bit after. My husband gets occasional cold sores that are worse with lack of sleep and stress. He takes valacyclovir preventively when we are expecting a new baby in the house (as HSV can be catastrophic for them and obviously we are sleep deprived and stressed).

@kipari, I remember you posting and helping me when I posted about my vertigo and dizziness. And thank you once again for posting this very helpful information and for your kind wishes. I am super grateful. x

Glad to hear that your DH is doing better. I don't wish vertigo on my worst enemies.

Yes, it IS just awful. I'm sorry you're still dealing with this!!! Mega PS dust to you!!!

And we totally understand if you were medically advised not to take the vaccine.

It’s the ones who refuse for no good reason that baffles me.

End of the day, imo it’s down to probability:
- 1. Chance of catching covid and dying or suffering some long term effects vs
- 2. Chance of taking the vaccine and suffering some adverse reaction and dying

If chance of #1 is low as the pandemic is well controlled, then why risk #2?

But if #1 is high, then #2 is a much better proposition. Today, we are in a situation where the likelihood of catching covid is high. It will become endemic as the experts say

Also for people who can take the vaccine (ie not medically advised against it), but think that you have some underlying condition that puts you at risk of dying from the vaccination, what makes you think that you will come out of a covid infection in a better state? Chances are, the outcome of an infection will not be favorable for you right?

So I really don’t understand. End of rant.

Yes, it seems that taking the vaccine or getting the virus will not go well for me. I prefer not to get into my specific issues as there are many.

Wow that sounds horrible! I’m glad you’re feeling better now.

Unfortunately cold sores are caused by a virus so antibiotics won’t help. Some people with severe outbreaks will take anti viral medication. Vertigo from HSV-1 is fairly rare so the odds are that you will be fine.

I had the vertigo constantly for 2 weeks and then it was intermittent for the 3rd week. It was the strangest thing. I could balance on one foot, walk normally etc. Obviously I didn’t drive and I couldn’t work because reading was difficult. I would go to bed at night and even with my eyes closed it would feel like I was on a bus stopping and starting.

The specialist believes that my brain was compensating for the effects of the vertigo. Apparently moving around will train your brain to work around the distorted visual cues. Even though everything was moving I could reliably grab objects in space, prepare dinner, go for a run etc. It felt so strange, but the specialist said it was a good thing. Normally she will prescribe physio appointments, but in my case I’m just supposed to continue being active and repeat any motion that feels abnormal. Like if I have a sudden visual shift while emptying the dishwasher she wants me to repeat the motion 5x.

I have faith that the vaccination process will go well for you! Goodluck.

Great idea! In fact, I'd meant "antiviral" but I typed "antibiotics" by mistake. I didn't even know one could take an antiviral preventatively. Will definitely look ito that. Thank you so much, @wildcat03 .

I know someone who suffered a severe case of vertigo and migraines sometime after her 2nd Pfizer shot. She is slowly recovering but not yet 100%. That being said, neither she nor her doctors think it's related to the vaccine and still looking for the cause. So it was interesting to read the posts here.

Good luck with your vaccine @Phoenix Keep in mind - vertigo is also a known effect of Covid itself so there is further risk in not having the vaccine (in fact, they thought it was possibly the result of long-haul Covid so they tested her for antibodies to see if that was the cause).

There will always be two sides on every topic.

There are excellent well-controlled studies that prove it does not work. They are not memes and they are not on FB. They are where grown-ups read them. Those grown-ups then give corresponding advice to their patients.

Who cares what some attention-seeking yahoo in one urgency care clinic thinks he sees?

Bafflingly, you consider this self-promoting trash to be "evidence" -- but at the same time worry that the FDA has not "approved" the vaccine?!? I bet I could sell you anything under the sun with some smooth talk and an appeal to your vanity. You're actually very smart, you know, to question this vaccine juggernaut. :lol-2:

That's really interesting (for lack of a better word) the type of vertigo you had. I am glad that you were able to do things to counteract the effect of vertigo. In my case, I couldn't move at all, just lying there totally motionless, for a good hour or so. Am extra glad that you've now gotten rid of it.

I hope it'll go ok with me too. I'm prepping as much as possible for it, inclg taking the antiviral. So fingers and toes crossed and praying hard too!!

Thank you so much once again for your replies and kind wishes. x

That’s great @Phoenix

The way things are going now in Singapore, best to get the vaccine if you can. Hopefully you don’t suffer too many side effects from the jab. Take care!

Yes, I know. {{SIGH}}. In fact, it's our exploding cases that are pushing me into making up my mind about the vaccine. The worst is that there are so many unlinked cases now. So who knows who's walking around with the active virus, sometimes not even knowingly.

Thank you for your kind wishes. x

Similarly, my hubby has inner ear problems that caused sporadic bouts of vertigo and severe nausea. A year or two an ENT doctor recommended daily use of prescription nasal spray, which seems to have kept the problem in check. He had no adverse reaction to either Moderna vaccination.

There was an article that said that nearly all vaccine misinformation comes from just 12 people—Tucker Carlson, other F*x hosts, etc, and maybe Rush Limbaugh’s rancid corpse?

@westofhere The only articles I could find regarding vaccine misinformation have to do with social media. They make no reference to Tucker Carlson, Fox hosts, or Rush Limbaugh. If you have read something different, could you please post the link for me, thanks.

From NPR:
Researchers have found just 12 people are responsible for the bulk of the misleading claims and outright lies about COVID-19 vaccines that proliferate on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.

And from the Guardian:
"Among the dozen are physicians that have embraced pseudoscience, a bodybuilder, a wellness blogger, a religious zealot, and, most notably Robert F Kennedy Jr, the nephew of John F Kennedy who has also linked vaccines to autism and 5G broadband cellular networks to the coronavirus pandemic."

Tucker Carlson is doing people a disservice IMO. I don't know if he is spreading misinformation as I do not watch him. But he isn't helping end the pandemic. If he isn't helping us (as a country, as a world) he is hurting us. IMO. People listen to him. People follow his recommendations.

@missy
Since you quoted my post I just want to clarify that I was not defending Tucker Carlson (or Fox News or Rush Limbaugh). I simply wanted to clarify the comment previously made regarding 12 sources of vaccine misinformation. I do not watch Tucker Carlson (or Fox News or any other news broadcasts for that matter) as I find all of them manipulative, annoying and clearly more concerned about ratings and revenue than providing accurate and helpful information. Thank you for the article link.

Hi @BMI, no worries. I didn't think you were defending him. I was just sharing a link discussing how he wasn't helping end this pandemic. How he isn't encouraging people to get vaccinated. (I believe he has gotten the vaccine though...he is a big hypocrite IMO). Without the great majority of people getting vaccinated we are going to be slow in ending this pandemic.

I agree with you. All the news broadcasts are manipulative and deceiving. That is the reason I don't watch them either. ::)

@BMI I found a couple more for you, if you're interested. 8)
FOX is at the forefront of vaccine misinformation. Here are some articles about the spread of misinformation by FOX. It's a big continuing news story.
There are endless articles being written about it, currently.

What is the name of the nasal spray he takes? I suffer from random episodes of vertigo and it effects my driving.

Fluticasone Propionate. Apparently it’s the same as Flonase. My hubby used to get the random vertigo attacks every six months or so, and they were debilitating. He’d get long bouts of nausea followed by diarrhea, and then he’d have to sleep the whole thing off for a few hours. He pilots a small plane - I was concerned one of these bouts might hit while he was flying. But he hasn’t had a single incident since a doctor prescribed the nasal spray about two years ago. I’m still amazed such a simple remedy does the trick! (I also have a prescription for the stuff, for seasonal allergies, but I only use it as needed because I experience some mild side effects.)

@BMI I found a couple more for you, if you're interested.

And don't forget the kingpin (apparently): this fringe kook osteopath in FL (and his girlfriend!) getting rich to the tune of $100 million by lying and then swindling on phony vitamin cures.

I didn't ask because I didn't want to pry.

For those with health risks, I understand how difficult the decision is over whether to get the vaccine or not is. So much uncertainty either way. Heck, I had my own concerns with no risks.

One of my aunts is severely immune compromised and her doctor suggested she pass/wait when the vaccines were announced. She stayed at home and was extremely cautious with any deliveries - boxes sat in the garage for 3 days, everything wiped down, even reheated takeout in the microwave). She only recently decided to get jabbed because 1) she wants to see my mother when we fly out next month and 2) the Delta variant. Fortunately, like many others, she hasn't had any unexpected side effects to date - wishing you the same.
