The fairytale begins

I''m not usually a fan of reality TV - no, really - but I have to admit I found the premiere of Australian Princess very entertaining.

The show charts the trials and tribulations of 14 young Aussies battling to become the Australian Princess and lord it over us commoners (they win $100,000 in prizes and get to meet a real Prince).

Maybe the appeal is do to with the pedigree of the judges - Princess Di''s former butler Paul Burrell, Fergie''s sister Lady Jane Ferguson, and deportment diva Jean Broke-Smith.

My favourite moments were: the hilarious footage of Melissa ''I''m addicted to my parent''s happiness'' Starzynski talking to her dog in Chinese; Zena Moussa''s revelation that she''s saving her first kiss for her husband (good luck with that); and dental nurse Christine Bryan''s description of her job - "I suck spit out of people''s mouths all day".

Sadly, Christine didn''t make it though the first episode.

But in a stroke of genius the show''s producers have made roomies of Melissa (who doesn''t think a Princess should swear or drink) with exotic dancer Laura Kiddle, so I''m sure there''s plenty to look forward to.

Isn''t there an Australian princess already? I thought she was married to the prince of denmark?

Garry, I love this show. It''s soooo bad that it''s good. And the absolute beatchiness of the judges at the end is priceless!

Australian Princess
Mary became Princess Mary when she married the crown prince Frederik. She''s a commoner from Tasmania. Our royalty is the English royal family, not the Danish one, although the women''s magazines always refer to Mary as ''Our Princess Mary''.

This show seems to have become instantly popular with ladies of all ages and socio economic groups.

They even have a schmico website http://www.australianprincess.com.au/

My retail company donated a 1.75ct Princess cut tension set ring
