Husband and I have been working on this upgrade for a year (plus or minus), and I finally have something to show you! We've been married 18 years, and for that time I've had a lovely 60 point H SI1 OEC that he inherited from his great aunt. We reset it into a traditionalish yellow gold wedding set.
At 10 years, he gave me a beautiful anniversary ring with 7 bezel set diamonds. I loved it along side my set. But as time passed, I started to get a hunger for something a little bigger and more flashy. After several months of not so subtle hinting, he caved in and let me start looking.
In November I found a beautiful (and extraordinarily well-priced) stone that seemed to meet both our requirements. A local jeweler was moving his business out of state and all stock was at cost. The stone was HRD certed RB 1.4 I SI2 (but it took me almost four months to find the two inclusions with my naked eye). It is on the deep end of ideal. I seemed to prefer the deeper cuts when looking.
As for the setting. Well....... that was quite a sticking point for us. Hubby seemed to think having a beautiful stone locked up in our safe was just fine for him.
I just love it! It is a 7 mm wide, 18k yellow and white gold, with .4 c channel set rounds on either side. It's unique, modern, but classic. And I love how I can see the entire stone from the side view. Go ahead and give me your opinion, although it isn't the delicate micropave platinum that's seems to be in vogue at the present time.
