I want Dan''s new garnet!!! It would be the perfect bright happy thing to chase away winter blahs. Unfortunately I think I''m too late on this one, so I hope a PSer got it! And if you did, please share pics - I''ve been dying for something light and yellow and happy for awhile now

Me too! In the meantime, I''m pestering Dan about any more rough he might have

I saw that one on his site before it was cut and thought it looked pretty nice :)
I bet it looks great in person.

Thanks TL!

I e-mailed Dan and he said he has a few more of the grossular rough - he''s going to go ahead and cut one and I''ll decide when I see it, so maybe I''ll be getting one soon too!

Rick at Artcutgems has some mali garnets now, too. Link

MZ, did you ever mount the Mali? You have the "Pineapple cut" right? Wasn''t it around 3 or more cts?

Gene, it was #607 2.72 carat and i do believe that''s a pineapple cut. no, i have yet to set it. truth be told i''m still unclear as to how i want to set it but i''m hoping to do so this year. i think it would look lovely set like my spess but i don''t want it to be the same setting. i''ve kept some pictures on my computer of settings i''ve liked and i may pull from those to create something for this mali.....she would be lovely in 22k gold!

I had first dibs on this stone but passed on it. I thought it was really beautiful though but I just have too many "needs" before a happy yellow stone.

I must say that I am absolutely blown away by the service from the cutters I have been speaking with. The customer service is outstanding and slightly outshines our amazing rocky talky vendors (not that they aren't great).

Haha I know what you mean about too many ''needs''! My list gets longer by the day...

Actually, I''d love to see some more pics of this one (you meant Dan''s stone right, as not having enough color?) since many of Dan''s stones come out lighter in his pics - I really hope a PSer ended up with it so I can see how it looks IRL (or as close as possible, through pics, I mean!).
