Hi Everone ~
face23.gif

Well I have finally decided on a setting for my diamond from Good Old Gold!

Life has been a bit hectic and scarry
39.gif
... and most parts of my life were on "hold" or I should say the "back burner" for a while. My DH almost died, 60% of people who get what he got die within 24 -48 hours of onset. He is not out of the woods, but is recovering and is at home now. I am so thankful for my blessings! He whispered to me that he really wanted me to get my setting soon, that it would make him very happy to have a symbol of his love back on my finger. So, I narrowed it down to three settings.

I have had a rough time finding a setting after the last jeweler in my town took me for a lil' unexpected ride and went flaky.

Well, with alot of patience from Marie

@ Good Old Gold, emails, price quotes and pictures ... I have finally found the setting that will cradle my diamond! Marie is such an angel

I am so sorry to hear about your husband''s illness but am glad he is out of danger now! I hope he continues to improve rapidly!

That setting looks very pretty! Do you have another view of it? I am also looking at settings and am having a hard time deciding. The Lockes is beautiful, but I am having a hard time wrapping my mind around $1800 for that setting.

Gosh Mrs Darlin Joy I''m glad to hear that your husband is doing okay! Sounds like you had a scare there and I hope his recovery continues.

That is one killer diamond and I love that sleek classy setting you''ve chosen!!!

Okay, sorry, I now see the other pictures! We are at the beach and I am having to deal with dial-up here! Ugh! Needless to say, I won''t be posting as much for the next week!

I LOVE that setting! It is a lot like the Cartier setting. Is it Vatche? Can you tell me any other info about it like width of the band or style #? Thanks!

Thanks Diamondseeker ~

The last few days, I have seen a lil'' improvement everyday ... he is young and otherwise healthy ... so that is in his favor!

I love the Lockes solitaire ... but I was told that there would be a gap, and if I upgraded ... it would be hard to find another stone to fit the custom made basket of the lockes setting.

So, the other thing I really liked are the bands that taper in towards the diamond, and when we saw this ... Hubby said he really liked the clean lines and thought that the two half eternity pave bands w/milgrain would be awesome ... I knew this was the one.

Ironically I just got a beautiful milgrain engraved eternity band from SP and now I am trying to get an e-ring setting to go with it, too! I think this setting would sit the diamond up high enough over the thickness of the channel set band. If I recall correctly, I think you were looking at WG and I am looking at platinum, but was this setting less than the Lockes? I don''t plan to upgrade again so that is not my issue. But that Lockes setting is very low and I am not sure it would work with my eternity band.

Oh my goodness Mrs DJ,
What a scare you had. I am so glad to hear your hubby is doing well. You both will be in my prayers.

The stone is gorgeous and I just adore that setting. I think it is soooo pretty and very elegant as well. Big hugs to you, sweetie. You have been through the ringer lately. I am sending my most positive vibes to you. Congrats on making an excellent choice, well the two of you for making a great choice.

Hi Sundial ~

Thanks ... I think the diamond is going to be absolutely blinding! I have tried to be sooo patient ... I haven''t even seen it in person yet, I told Jonathan to hang on to it until I chose a setting, and well, that took a lil'' longer than it should have, but Yes ... I am getting excited to see the real deal!

As far as DH ... when something like this happens ... it really wakes you up "fast"! I just pray that everyday he will have improvement and will be able to come off the oxygen in the next few weeks.

Take care,

Yes, it is similar to the Cartier. It is Vatche. I can''t remember what style number it was, and the exact width, it is thin though. I have the info on my work computer and I am at home.

Marie @
[email protected] can get this Vatche setting, It is available for a round or princess diamonds.

Hope that helps.

Hi Lisa ~
emrose.gif

Yes, it was a scare! I was so scared that I just went into the Zombie phase! I could her one of my co-workers in the ER say, "Oh, it''s Joy ... she''ll be ok, she''s a strong woman ... she will handle it." I was just thinking ... Oh my g*d! I can''t fall apart now ... infront of him ... I just felt like a ghost standing in the corner while everyone had "The look" on their face ... I knew what that look meant and then the ER Doc told me what was going on ... and then I had to remove myself from the bay he was in. So far so good. I keep praying, and I am trying to be positive. It means alot to me that we will both be in your prayers! Thanks and hugs to you!
face23.gif

He has always like clean, contemporary and bold pieces ... while I on the other hand love clean, contemp, frou-frou, detailed, anything except Bold & bulky. It has been important that he like what I am wearing, call me crazy, but I like catching him looking at my jewelry that he has bought me ... I figure if he likes looking at them, he''ll enjoy buying me more to wear ... I get to enjoy as well as he does for admiring from a distance.

Thanks Lisa, and I hope you have a wonderful weekend, and your hubby has a great father''s day!

Here is another picture of the setting. I think the 2nd pic I posted shows the side pretty well, and the head does sit a lil' higher than the lockes ... my half eternity bands do stick up about 2mm high ... and this will fit alot better. I am getting 18K WG ... and it is cheaper than the lockes, but the lockes does have the surprise diamonds, and the Vatche is a plain band ... no diamonds. It is available in Platinum, Give Marie a email, for a quote ... let her know it's the setting "Joy" is going to get from Vatche ... and tell her you want plat and give her a ring size and she will get back with you. She is really a sweetie!

p.s. This band reminds me of a thinner version of the Vatche Royal Crown, just not as thick.

I am glad he''s doing better too!

I think the ring is gonna be so purdy ... And I can''t wait to see the final product either!

Here is a pic I found that is looking obviously head down ... I really like bands that taper in ... I think it will make the center diamond pop ... And that kind of pop definately won''t hurt!

So sorry to hear about your recent troubles. . . am glad to hear that everything is looking up!

The diamond is beautiful - what size is it?

I really like that mounting - those tapered shanks have grown on me. It think the solitaire with the two bands will be beautiful!

Glad to hear that your husband is on the path to recovery.

Beautiful setting choice for your stone.
21.gif
I agree, I think the tapering will make the RB "pop" when you look at it!

Oh how scary for you MDJ
I''m so sorry to read this.
I hope his recovery is speedy and smooth.

Mrs DJ I am so sorry for your recent trouble and will be praying for you and your Husband - so glad he is making a good recovery.

As to the setting it is identical to mine, although mine is in yellow gold with a WG head and double prongs. The tapering band is one of my favourite things about it and I know you will be pleased with it - it''s a classic!

Joy, thank you for the additional picture! I adore this setting! I am looking at a diamond or two at GOG and had searched the Vatche site but never saw this setting! I like it a lot more than the royal crown! I want a beautiful classic setting and this one may fit the bill! Do they send your diamond to Vatche to set or does GOG set it? Not that it matters..I just wonder. Also, how long will it take? I want to see pictures of yours completed!!! Thank you sooo much! And I will add my prayers for your husband anytime I see you post here! Please let us know how he is doing!

Mrs Darling Joy, I''m sorry to hear about your husband. I''m so glad that he''s doing better! The stone and the setting both look beautiful, and I can''t wait to see pictures of how it all turns out.

Hi MissGotRocks ~

Thank you for your thoughts ... I think everyday is looking just a ''lil better, or at least I hope it is. His coloring is better today. 37 is too young to be what we call "boxed." I fired his medical Dr. (misdiagnosed
29.gif
to begin with from a month ago!) and we now have a "Real" internist who is onboard and picking up the pieces now.

My diamond is .72ct J SI1. Jonathan told me that this diamond shines, sparkles and he said I am going to LOVE it
18.gif
emlove.gif
! Faces up white, and there is a small inclusion that if you had a very trained eye, could see with a loop, but you would have to look at it from the "Bottoms-up" position, and it is white.

We wanted to get size wise around a carat, but realistically, couldn''t afford it, so of course the most important was cut! To me, the second was an incredible Bscope ..., third was clarity, and fourth was color. With all the valuable information here on Pricescope, I learned and saw thru pic''s that if the stone was perfectly cut ... I could go down to possibly a K, but if I didn''t have to, then that was ok. For clarity, I didn''t want to look down and see any little pieces of pepper floating around etc. So, after being educated, I talked with Jonathan, he educated me some more and I let him put his valuable experience to work for me, and I must say ... I was very, very surprised when he came back with a .72ct diamond!
9.gif

Once it''s in the setting ... I am not going to see anything but sparklies!
