At the beginning of 2021 I noticed a gorgeous blue sapphire on the Mastercutgems website and contacted Dana about it. Unfortunately, due to lockdown, he was unable to ship to the UK so I had to keep my fingers crossed that once shipping became easier I might be able to purchase it. I literally stalked the website and at the beginning of 2022 when everything was getting back to some sort of normality, I contacted Dana again. This time, he said it might be possible and that he would get his lovely wife, Rachelle, to reach out to me. I can honestly say, I don't think I've ever dealt with such a wonderful couple. Nothing was too much trouble and both Rachelle and Dana wanted me to be 100% happy with my purchase. Rachelle helped me so much and there was no rush to buy. It was just like buying a gemstone from friends.
So what was the sapphire that made my heart sing? Well, it's a 2.19ct untreated blue sapphire from Sri Lanka in an octagon/scissor cut. A lovely long eye clean gemstone. It's not the "ideal" colour or most sought after but it's the exact colour I wanted. In my experience, the richer blue tones can look a bit darker in the grey skies of the UK so I wanted a colour that was lighter with no grey and that's exactly what I got!
It's taken me until this week to get it set because I was searching for the right side stones and I had a vision of what they needed to look like in terms of size. I have fairly chubby fingers so I need finger spread! Anyway, that's enough talking, let me show you what's making my heart bounce!
