Hey everyone!

I''ve been on these forums for a little while now - mostly lurking, researching, and educating myself. BF and I have been together for what will be 5 years in December. Though I don''t think getting engaged will happen until sometime mid next year, (at the earliest), I figured a little request for dust wouldn''t hurt!!

As for a little about our current situation, we live together and have for a couple of years. He just finished his Engineering degree last year and I am still in college. We had actually planned to get engaged earlier this year due to a "family emergency". Sort of hard to explain but as a quick recap... my Grandmother who is like my second mother was diagnosed with a very aggressive stage 4 cancer and there were no more treatment options available. We hoped to be able to have her see us get engaged as that was something very important to her as well as myself. We planned it to be around August/September with a temporary ring that would be upgraded sometime down the line. Unfortunately we weren''t able to make that happen. I received a call while on vacation that I needed to come home. That was July 26th. She passed away on July 29th at the age of 75. However, my incredibly kind, sweet, and caring BF decided on our last day seeing her to get her blessing which she of course obliged! He said that she said that the only thing she wanted was to see me happy, cared for, and for us to get married.

I''m sorry for the sappy story. I miss her a lot and am so thankful to know that I will be marrying the most amazing man I could possibly dream of - and that she agrees that he is just as amazing as I say! Plus, I know when I do get engaged, she''ll be the first to know

Welcome! I''m sorry to hear about your grandma, but it sounds like you have a guy who she adored.

Your BF sounds very sweet, and I totally understand the importance of getting your Grandma''s blessing, and I''m so glad he did. I''m so sorry for your loss.

I''m a bit older than you, and my parents are already gone, but I do have one Grandmother left, who is 94. She is my only mother now, and has been for the last 15 years. It is VERY important to me that my SO makes it clear to her that he will marry me even if we don''t get engaged for a while. I hope he takes care of it soon. She loves him and loves us together.

Last night, I actually had a dream that I got a phone call, and I was told that my grandmother had died. When I aksed when, they said "right around Thanksgiving". I woke up crying this morning. I''m a bit freaked out about this....and I''ll be away on vacation Thanksgiving week.

I believe in signs, and dreams, and I don''t like this one bit.

Sorry to get off track....
