Adding Pave'' to a plain band?

Can it be done? I found a lovely vintage engagement ring in platinum with a small bezel set diamond in a plain band. The ring is a little larger than I need it to be (Size 4.5 vs. 3.75) with a wide, plain band. I''m just curious if anything can be done to it.

I asked this question a while back. Most people said just go ahead and get a band that is already done.

It was more of a question, I think, if you could find a willing jeweler that would do this.
