Advice on aquamarine

I’ve been casually looking for an aquamarine For awhile. I saw this guy and immediately pulled the trigger. The price was right, it’s completely untreated, flawless clarity, and over 4 cts. It’s not a trade desirable color but still a very pleasing light blue. The moment I opened it I noticed a very visible chip. I immediately emailed the company that I ordered from. They were very apologetic and surprised that they didn’t catch it before sending it out. The chip is clearly not there in the website photos. There is however a tiny pinpoint, so I’m almost wondering if it could’ve happened in transit somehow. Anyways, I have three options. 1- just return it and get my money back. 2- send it back to them and they will polish out the chip and send it back to me. 3- have the chip polished out locally and they will reimburse me. I’m stressed about the logistics of all of those options because this vendor is overseas. If the chip hadn’t been there in the first place I wouldn’t be considering returning the stone but now that I have this predicament I almost want to just return it and possibly get something custom cut (unsure of the cost of this) It is not precision cut, but it is still very pleasing stone in my opinion. Does anyone know how to go about getting the stone polished? hopefully local to me (Northern CA). Any advice? 656D263F-8489-4ACB-A989-50E20CC6460F.jpeg

My local jeweler has a lapidary she will send stones to that need polishing. The problem is that it costs more here than overseas. Still, that’s what I do. I don’t feel comfortable sending back jewelry internationally because I can’t insure it, not being in the trade.

Sorry this happened. I know how disappointing it is.

So sorry this happened to you. Boyd Fox in Texas is a magician with tweaking/recuts and could probably do a great job fixing it and losing as less weight as possible. I know he isn't local to you, but if the vendor is willing to reimburse you for a recut it can possibly be an option.

I second Boyd Fox. He re-cut a peridot for me and closed its window. I recall the price being less than I expected too.

Thank you for the responses so far. At this point I’m feeling like I just want to poof it gone. I truly don’t have the time or energy to deal with it. It’s a pretty stone but it’s starting to feel a bit tainted. If I do send it back overseas I know they do cover insurance and I’d be shocked if they didn’t cover shipping costs as well due to the situation. It sounds like Boyd is the guy to contact if I decide to go that route. I appreciate the recommendation.
