Well I have received the stone today. It is 2.35 ct and comes with an AIGS certificate with the comment "paraiba in the trade". So no doubt it is a cuprian. Although it is not precisely cut, luckily no window is present. And unlike most of cuprian touramlines, the clarity of this stone is supremly great, loupe clean indeed! Nonetheless I am still a little bit hesitated about whether to return the stone or not. The color is sligtly less saturated than in the vendor's pictures but still within the range of acceptance. It is my first time laying hands on cuprian or paraiba, so its glow in low light condition really surprised me. Btw the price is 680usd per carat. Am I paying too much for it? Should I keep it?

1st picture is vendors' and 2nd mine

It looks like a nice looking tourmaline but doesn't stand out particularly against your other stones.

It's definitely more on the green side, but I don't think the price is bad, truthfully. I do like your emerald more when it comes to that color range though. Is it what you were looking for in terms of a cuprian? What's making you hesitant? That might help us help you determine whether or not to keep it.

Maybe deep in my mind I want those strong saturated blue paraiba but I did not realise it so I end up buying this minty cuprian. The minty color alone is beutiful but not catchy enough. Maybe I am becoming more picky on gems
And in terms of color, I think I love the green cuprian. I always think green cuprian is a affordable alternative to those neon blue. I am not sure which one is bothering me, the cost or the saturation

If the saturated blue is what you want deep down then maybe you search for one. I'd reach out to some vendors and let them know your preferences (budget included) and see what they send your way. It might be a little bit, but I'm sure it'd be worth the wait. The minty color does look pretty, but if it's not catchy enough for you then that's not a good sign. Becoming more picky isn't necessarily a bad thing. ;) And you're right about green being more affordable than the neon blue. I wouldn't worry about the cost; a 2ct cuprian for under $2k is good, I think. So I'd focus on the saturation.

If you want blue, then get the blue version. Nothing wrong with green if you want green but I'd rather get what I truly want.

Unfortunately, blue is also very expensive.

Thanks Chrono. But getting something that I truly want means paying much more than I can afford. So I am always looking for alternatives since I am just collecting for fun. All color spectrum is under my radar. And pricewisely I don't think paraibainternational has a good reference for price. Since the market is flooded with heated african cuprian, quotes from gem dealer in Thailand should be a better reference since Thailand is a world center for gem enhancement. As far as I could get, the price is not that exaggerated as showed in paraibainternational although I admit that good blue cuprian is way beyong my price range (2000$). Anyway I think I will take another day to consider whether to keep it or not

Several people have jumped on Paraibas from PI when they had a sale on. Likewise, some have kept and eye on Yvonne Riley's site on Etsy. Paraibas are now clarity enhanced without disclosure, so please do be careful.

Thanks SparkliesLuver. I may need another day to consider the saturation issue. The vendor of this green cuprian did offer me a few choices of blue. One is 3ct+ and more included. I am ok with color but the price is doubled.

I'd definitely ask for more pictures of the blue, especially between closed fingers. I'd lean that way, if I'm being 100% honest. Yes, the price is more, but so is the size. And I've become a lot more tolerable of (non-surface reaching) inclusions after getting mine.

I like the green. But I'll also be the first person to say get what you want. If you don't want the green, don't get it. Put that money to something you want.

Check in different lighting conditions. Not all copper-bearing tourmalines glow. So it depends on what you want. Do you want a clean
one, or a glowy one? Or both?

I like it but if you are after a blue one then obviously this isn't it....
