#1 is a egl ideal cut g vs2 vg,vg
table 55%,crown 34.6,pavil 40.9,depth 43.2%,total depth 62.9,1-3% girdle,5.70 x 5.74 x 3.60mm.

#2 is a gia h si1 gd,gd
table 58%,depht 62.9%,thin-slightly thick girdle
5.70 x 5.75 x 3.60 mm

paid $3950 for the pair, these sure don''t sparkle like they should, maybe is cut too deep ? i know i''ll be losing some weight which i don''t mind as long i get a better performing stone. i''ve done this before with a 1.47 ct.

I've also thought of recutting my stone before and was advised not to for 2 reasons:
1. My 0.72 ct might end up close to 0.5ct
2. Since my 0.72ct will drop below the 0.7ct, it's $/ct price will also drop as it falls into the next lower category.
3. It may not sparkle a whole lot more.
4. Recutting it will already cost around $400 and upwards so when everything is added up, I am spending so much more for a recut that it might be better to just buy new stones.

It is best to have an appraiser take a look and make en educated guess as to whether the stone will be a good candidate for a recut.

1. i don't think it will lose that much weight (.22 ct ?)i'am guessing like .10 ct.

2. i understand it will drop to the next lower price per ct range, but if you are not selling ,it don't matter plus you get a ideal cut.

3. my 1.47 ct now is a 1.15 ct after the recut and it does sparkle a lot more.

4. yes, its about $400. per stone

who recuts diamonds here in the U.S. besides 8* ?

While the actual cutting doesnt take place in the us. www.whiteflash.com and www.winkjones.com and www.diamondexpert.com offer recutting services.
The latter 2 resell Paul-Antwerp''s recutting services.
PRicing is around:
$300 per ct - reg. recut.
$800 per ct - superideal-cut
For Pauls work.
Plus the cost of shipping and an ags cert.
8* is around $1500 per ct
whiteflash prices on a case by case basis.

Almost everyone bases the price on finished weight and a 1ct min.

Honestly,

Comparing the relative size of you current stones, I really don''t think it is cost effective to get them re-cut. Buy yourself some new ideal cut stones for earrings, and have both sets..

i know but, a recut is still cheaper than buying 2 more stones.this pair is already mounted into earrings.

who recuts diamonds here in the U.S. ? still thinking about recutting these (2) .72 ct.
how much per ct ?

Unless the sym is really way off on the first stone - it will not improve - maybe it is knatty knotted material with poor transperency?

Have you seen them through an ideal-scope?

Keeping earrings clean is important

Since you asked ...

EightStars are cut and recut here in the good old USA, right here in Northern CA, about 30 - 40 min. from my store (assuming no traffic).

Plan on loosing 15 - 20% in the recutting.

As far as prices goes we don''t discuss prices on the net but stmrdr is close, but you will need to run it by an offical EightStar jeweler like us.
