So, I sent out an e-mail to guests who would be crossing borders to come to our wedding as in the thread here
https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/help-wording-issues-is-this-polite-enough.76137/ There was one cousin who''s e-mail address I didn''t have and I said at the bottom ''Could someone please forward this to J & R? ''
... and one of my cousins writes back and says ''Are there other members of the extended family whose e-mail addresses you need?''

Uhhh... no one who''s actually invited. I mean, what is that supposed to mean? Did he scan the list and think ''Surely X & Y must be invited!'' But how the heck do I reply to that?!?!?

Ahaha. This is the same cousin who drank copious quantities of the 25 year Maccallan at my dad''s last wedding, running up a bill for $1000 or so singlehandedly. He is the reason we are not having an unlimited open bar.

And he is an odd fellow for sure.

Independent Gal -- Sounds like an odd fellow for drinking you out of house and home, um, talk about awkward.... With regards to your inquiry ... Maybe? Just maybe though ...

he was being considerate and thought you may need other email addresses?

If I was in you situation, I would simply reply "No ... I think that covers everyone who has been invited. Thanks a lot for the offer, I appreciate it"

Do you think something like that might work for you or not?

Gosh, maybe you're right. It's just that, because I specifically mentioned the one person whose e-mail address I DIDN'T have, you would think he would assume that that was that. Why would I say 'Anyone got J's address?' when I also needed X's and Y's addresses... know what I mean? But you're right, maybe it was just a knee-jerk nice, if illogical offer, and not a 'conniving' one.

OK, so I will reply politely with "Thanks for the kind offer! But I think that's everyone."

...still. I wouldn't put it past him. Particularly since he is often in cahoots with Crazy Aunt F of this thread:

and this thread:

fame. He's the only other relative crazy enough to get along with her.

But the polite response is still the way to go. That's what i'll do.

Indy!! That is madness ... I can''t believe what you have been going through. You are a champion! I don''t think that I would have dealt with this as admirably. No wonder you were suspicious about your cousin''s comment.

Good luck. Please do keep us updated and thanks for sharing.

I replied just as you suggested. Hopefully you're right and I should be giving him the benefit of the doubt! I keep thinking sooner or later some scheme of Crazy Aunt F is going to pop up and ruin things. But maybe that's too negative and everything will go perfectly smoothly.

Oh gosh ... I hope I am right too. I''ll keep fingers crossed for you and hope that this keeps both the crazy cousin and crazy Aunt F at bay.

Everything WILL go smoothly ... dare I say, even if Aunt F does get up to some shenanigans. What''s a wedding without at least one kookbat story, right? Think of Aunt F as "free" entertainment. Hopefully, if she does come to perform, she will keep her set short.

And for further emails, possibly consider sending them out using the BCC: so that your dear cousin would have NO idea who you were actually sending the email out to! Just a thought, and hopefully he doesn''t cause any more disturbances!
