Hi, I've tried reading threads, Googling and staring at pictures; but, my old eyes can't seem to figure out what is meant by these terms. I think 'shared prongs', which I think I understand, are involved - but, where does the 'airline' come in? Thanks for any help you can offer!

No ideas?

Hi! Not sure if this is what you mean but for example a shared prong airline basket setting looks like this:

a closed gallery shared prong looks like this:

I’ve never seen a tennis bracelet with shared prongs and a closed gallery before.
Is this what you’re talking about?

Hey @TARSHA

Hope this clarifies a few things!

Single shared prong.

Double shared prong.

A medium airline. The room between the girdle and the inner metal of the halo.3C65F1FF-23CB-4173-A1A7-55341B6E629E.jpeg

Not a tight airline. Some people go for that look and they rock it!

NOW, I think I get it! So, if you had two tennis bracelets - one using a 3-prong setting and the other using an airline setting, would the 3-prong one make the stones be a little further apart?
Thank You!

I've been looking at a lot of sites and IDJ mentions a tb with "airline basket (sorry, I don't know how to link but it's their SKU#8CT-LB1". It has a photograph, but my 73 yr. old eyes couldn't quite figure out just what was different. Thank you for your help!

Almost all tennis bracelets have "airlines". I just call them open baskets because "airline" to me means an
open space around the girdle of the stone between the stone and a halo.

The only types of tennis bracelets I've noticed without open baskets are bezeled stone tennis bracelets.

Open basket, or what they are referring to in this case, has to do with the depth of the setting. In general, this doesnt
make the stones be closer or further apart.

I'm not sure why they choose to point out "airline" because most tennis bracelets are made with an "airline" or like I like
to call it an "open basket".

That 8 carat bracelet you are looking at is very pretty!
