do i need more food? teh background: it''ll be a food-loving crowd. the setting: seaside. the restriction: kosher-style (which essentially means no beef, poultry, and of course, no shellfish or pork). the current menu:

passed hors d''oeurves:
brie and berries in puff pastry
spinach and feta triangles
seared tuna on wonton
hot artichoke in sourdough
mini spring rolls
fruit and cheese skewers

plated dinner:
Caribbean mixed greens, mango, strawberry, and avocado with a honey cumin dressing
onion-encrusted snapper with key lime chardonnay sauce (portobello veg option for our few vegetarians/those with fish allergies)
jasmine rice
pesto grilled vegetables

dessert bar:
variety of cakes, including exteme chocolate with chocolate covered strawberries, raspberry elegance, dulce de leche torte
assorted pastries including eclairs, mini cheesecakes, creampuffs and assorted tartlets

we''re also planning to send people off with chocolate chip cookies, in baggies labeled "sweet dreams, from the bride and groom"

So, what do you think? do i need, maybe, a plated appetizer course? or am i being paranoid? i love to eat, and i hate it when i leave weddings hungry, so this is a little pathological.

Ace, that is a hard question to answer. It depends on how much food is already being served. Ask your caterer/chef what they think. If they suggest you order an appetizer, maybe do a soup dish. Soup always fills people a little and then it won''t be as expensive. With the dietary restrictions be careful not to let the budget explode.

I agree that you should definitely ask your caterer, they seem to have a good handle on how much food to prepare.

It sounds like enough food for me. It sounds great too!

Everything sounds fantastic! I'd check with your vendor and see what they'd recommend in terms of how much food is the appropriate amount.

Are you going to have a tasting?

When we had ours, we tried one of each appetizer and we were picking between 4 main courses, so the 4 of us shared 4 plates. They were the portions that are going to be served. We were all full at the end, and took home leftovers, so I know that with a raw bar, salad and cake (which we didn''t taste), probably no one will be hungry.

Maybe ask if they can give you an example of the portion sizes. But honestly, unless you have a crowd of football players, I think it''s unlikely that the portions will be so tiny that people will be hungry. American standards are pretty large these days. We typically would never go to a restaurant, eat hors d''oeuvres, order salad, entree and dessert and still be able to stand at the end
