has anybody transformed their modified A-line to a mermaid???

bump

I am interested in this too!

I might be doing this...the change will be ever so slight, but it may qualify as mermaid. As someone who knows nada about sewing, I say it can be done!

It can be done! I had to do this. My dress was supposed to be a mermaid (the designer calls it a "trumpet," officially, but it is totally a mermaid.) I had a major panic attack at my first fitting, though, because the dress was made incorrectly - it came in as an a-line. (The seamstress even pointed out all of the details for me that made it an a-line - like the fabric angling out directly from the waist.) Anyway, I was in total shock at first, and then concerned that I had made a mistake when I bought it. The bridal shop later confirmed for me that it had been made incorrectly, and at my next fitting they pinned, and pinned, and pinned away until it was the correct shape. At my third fitting, it was perfect! It can definitely be done.

Thanks for the info Kellybell! Do you happen to have any before/after pics?

My dress was supposed to be a trumpet, but the trumpet shape was more a-line than I wanted, so I asked the seamstress to take it in a little bit more in the thigh area. While it''s hard to see a huge difference in pictures, I definitely noticed it (it would have been more obvious, had I chosen to wear crinoline underneath). The picture to the left is the original, and the picture to the right is the same dress slightly modified.

it can be done and im posting pics shortly :)

Mine is called fit and flare and to me it just looked aline-ish. My body naturally makes anything slightly mermaid cause of my round rear. Anyway, I had mine altered to be completley mermaid.
