My venue has a total ban on confetti - including rice, rose petals and lavender.

It will be summer so sparklers wouldn''t work either.

It''s not a total disaster if we don''t have anything, but seems a bit odd to walk out of the ceremony with nothing for people to do but stand there ...

Anyone have any ideas what else one could do that is environmentally friendly?

Bubbles?

colored flags?

bummer on the no lavender since you''re doing the herb thing!

sparklers would work if it''s at night or just getting dark. what time will you be exiting?

and i don''t think it''s a biggie not to do anything. most weddings i''ve gone to didn''t do any sort of toss.

is birdseed out?

Indeed! I really don't get it as it's all gravel outside the ceremony bit anyway so lavender wouldn't even show!

We're exiting just after 4pm (I'm going to try and move the ceremony from 3.00 to 3.30pm now) so it won't be dark till about 9.00pm in July.

I think bubbles might be the best plan - if I can find the non staining sort! Thanks LAJennifer I'd totally forgotten about them. I might get some of those mega bubble guns for the two horrible little brothers of my bridesmaids - keep them amused for a while!

Bird seed?

i like the bubbles....a friend of mine did it and it was beautiful... the pictures looked great with the sunlight catching on the bubbles!

i''ve seen it with the colored streamers on a stick? kind like pompoms but much much less foofy and more streamlined. not sure what they''re called and ppl waving them like mad. looks pretty and adds a nice pop of color to the background as your running excitedly out as man and wife

or do both

I think bubbles are a great option. I have also heard of people using the ribbon wands like gingerbcookie said... kind of like the ones that rhythmic gymnasts use, but shorter of course.

We didn''t do anything. Bubbles are popular. We went to one with sparklers and it was ALMOST a disaster. Someone dropped theirs and lit the door mat on fire (drinking + fire = scary).
