Am I crazy? An $18,000 stone from Natural Sapphire Company

I'm considering buying this orange sapphire from the Natural Sapphire Company. It's for an engagement ring for me. It's a bit more than I wanted to spend, but not outrageously so. My ring size is 10.5, thus the desire for a stone that large.

While getting a good deal is nice, I'm more concerned about getting reasonable value for my money. Obviously, I want to get the stone appraised on audition but I gather I can't trust must jewelers to appraise colored stones properly. HELP!

I forgot to mention, he is running a sale today only for 15% off with code cyber15 (which is a couple grand in this case..who hoo).

Not an expert but I personally prefer the cut on the $13,000 stone.

I did check out the video on the round. What's going on in the center (that small whitish circle). Is that just a product of the video?

Are you considering a diamond halo? That will up the mm size for finger coverage. :Up_to_something2:

Have you seen it in person? If not ask them to take a photo of it against skin sitting on the back of a hand in the background like the other stone so you can see how it really looks. I don't trust their over glamorised photos to be that accurate for colour and can possibly see too much brown in the stone for my own personal taste.

omg the 5.16 radient!

Thank you, Elle. The stone you linked to is stunning and actually more in line with what I wanted. So I purchased it. Thank you for the discount code too!

That's so exciting! I hope you post pictures when you get it.

Elizabeth, that orange sapphire Elle recommended and you so wisely bought is STUNNING - we will all wait impatiently now to see that magnificence proudly displayed on your hand.

The Finewater sapphire is beautiful! I hope you post pictures when you receive it.

Great choice. Can't wait to see photos.

Yay! Lovely turn of events. :)

I prefer the FW sapphire over the NSC. Post pics when it arrives. :)

The FW sapphire should be a killer beauty! Can't wait to hear what you think.

He references using her discount code, which was for finewater- which is now sold out. I believe it’s that one. Which I’m glad about I find his photos very realistic to the actual stone so should be A nice stone

Thanks Niel. :))

I bought the 5.42 carat square cushion from finewater. The pictures don't do it justice, but after trying to photograph it I think they are as accurate as can be. The sapphire definitely orange, but has the occasional flash of pink as it moves.

So what do you think about it? Is it the right one for you?

I really like that Gary preserved the step cutting to retain that near-vivid orange. It's a beaut.

What’s your setting going to be?

I hope you consider a diamond halo. I think the orange would just pop that way. Plus...finger coverage. :Up_to_something2:
