Okay so... I''m starting a new, demanding job in CA on the 11th of September (if all goes according to plan) and we''ve planned a trip to DC (where the wedding will be) for the 29th and 30th of September. I''m going to take a red eye in from CA to Baltimore and have FI (who will still be living in NJ until November or December) meet me on the 29th.

On the 29th I will be meeting with venues.. I''m going to meet with the top two venue contenders. Then meet with with one photographer and possibly do one cake tasting. On the 30th in the morning we are doing another cake tasting and meeting with two more venues. And another photographer. On the 1st (Sunday) I''ll be flying back to CA.

I want to get this all done because well... I don''t know-- with moving and all-- if we''ll be able to go to DC again until about 3 months before the wedding. And I don''t want to take more than 1 day off work.

Am I insane? Is this too much? Or do you guys think it will work out okay?

Oh... and if there''s time (LMAO) I want to stop by at Quest.

As long as the new gig is cool with a day off so soon after starting ... I think it''s do-able! Seems like most stuff gets done in flurries ya know? Little, intense bursts of YES NO YES YES NO. I call that "efficient"!

Even if it is a little hassle with all the travel - you''ll feel so much better & be able to jump in at the new gig so much more fully if you have the skeleton of the plan in place - ya know?

Oh I know. Believe me... if I hadn''t planned on going to Austin this weekend... we''d be in DC doing this NOW. But well... still no word on the cat, Austin is booked-- we''re there till the 6th and I''m flying to CA on the 9th! So there is no way I can squeeze it in. I already told them I have a prior commitment on the 29th. There hasn''t been a problem with it.

OT but are you worried about the weather at all. We're supposed to drive to VA this Friday (my b-day, hee!) and it looks like we'll be driving INTO THE HURRICANE.

Gypsy...Hi:

I actuallly live in the DC Metro area so first of all I hope you enjoy your short stay. I think you are doing a lot, but not too much. Provided the venues are close to each other then that should not take all day. And you may even decide after visiting the top two that you don''t need to see the others. What you have going for you is that you have a plan. And maybe you could get the photogs to meet you at the venues? That could be a good score because they can sort of frame your potential wedding day photos. Just a thought. Anyway I hope all works out for you. Let us know how the whirlwind trip goes.

I think you can do it. When you have to get something done in a limited amount of time, adrenaline kicks in... I think that will be an adrenaline-filled weekend, but I think you''ll survive it. It may take a little time to recover though, once you get back to CA, but by then you''ll have checked off loads on your to-do list!

and hey, if you need any help in cake tasting, let me know! I''d be glad to go and sample them for you!

I haven''t told FI about the Marathon of events yet. He''s gonna kill me.

LMAO.

I think that is how all out of town planning is.. You have to jam it all in when you have the opportunity to travel!

SO I''m talking to the venue about scheduling and FI happens to be in the room. When I get off the phone he says, casually you understand, exactly how many places are we going to that weekend.

Umm three.. maybe four venues.

Two cake tastings.

Yeah, and then the photographers. Two or three.

He just stared at me speechless.. so I said ''You understand the why, right?''

He finally, "I get it, I''m just not happy about it."

Ahh well. Welcome to wedding planning. LOL.

Ha! We''re going down to Tx in November to meet with our caterer and some florists and maybe some officiants and djs too if we can swing it. But definitely the caterer and florists. And picking our ceremony spot too.

Our photographer included the engagement portrait session in our package and I said to FI: "want to do our engagement photos while we''re there?" he said "as long as it isn''t sunday." (Redskins play the Eagles that day!)

I kind of grimaced because I know all the other stuff needs to be done Friday and Saturday and our photographer has a wedding on Saturday as well, so it would HAVE to be Sunday. Now I''m thinking about paying the guy another travel fee for that session so I don''t spend 3 hours in a sports bar in Fayetteville, AR, just because we can''t get back to my mom''s house in time for the game! If he has to miss it, he''s going to be pouting.

Haha.. well if it helps at all, you''re not alone!!

Starting next week, I''m going to be taking 3 classes for my grad program on Mondays (9 credits)... commuting out of the city for a 25 hour/week internship Tues, Wed, and Thurs... then commuting 2 hours to my hometown on Fridays to assist my father in opening his new 30,000 sq ft store (I''m in charge of the 10,000 sf bookstore component). While doing all my classwork and planning for my capstone project (case study presentation). And um, planning my wedding somewhere in between?

Wow... sounds even worse when I write it all out.

I think the trick it to just dive right in and try not to overthink any of it!

Yikes! Don''t do that again, you''ll give yourself and me and ulcer Ephemery!

Found what looks like a great venue. Found a cake lady, and a brick and mortar bakery (bakery is twice the price), photographers I did prelim screening on... but need to follow through and get things hammered out.

Laundry is done. Packing is in progess. FI is excited about the Madison too!
