DS that is stunning! I am in love with it! You know, if you want one that is bigger, I''m sure that Jeff could make one for you... the magic is in the cut and he can do that again, or better or different, if you wanted another size.

Do you mind me asking approximately how deep the stone is? I am trying to get an idea of how high of the finger a stone that size would sit in a very low stance setting.

D
Thanks, D! I''m sorry but I do not know the depth. All I can tell you is that it is not very deep. I have seen many native cut stones that are, but this one is not...at least after he cut it, that is!

Thanks DS, I understand if you don''t know the depth off hand

I was just wondering if it seems similar to a diamond in how high it would sit off the finger.

I looooove it! That is a stone I have fallen in love with, I think it has thrown a monkey wrench into my plans, haha!

I'm in love with it. Someday.. its just one of the things on my list. Honey, its a winner. :)
Thanks, SDL! We all have those lists, that's for sure! But you already have beautiful sapphires on your e-ring, so that is great for now!

DS if you don't keep that puppy I'm going to have to cancel my wedding photographer in order to be able to buy and set that puppy into a RHR for myself. It's TOO stunning!!! I mean it! It's going to be your fault if I have a pictureless wedding!!!!

GAWD that is an AMAZING sapphire. Seriously, seriously astonishingly AMAZING.

I've GOT to have some stuff from him. I've just got to!

It would look AMAZING in a halo. But Actually I'd want it three stoned with half moons from Leon. But that's just me.

No the inclusions wouldn't bother me. It's a sapphire, and it's got birthmarks.

It''s amazing. It really is. It''s a fab colour, a great size on your hand, and just generally stunning. I understand what you mean by needing a stone for a specific project and having to follow through with that rather than just collecting stone...but, it''s so purdy, you should keep it!

DD, yes, the pavilion of this stone looks very much like the depth of a diamond. So I imagine it would be much like a 2 ct. diamond when set.

Gypsy! Lol! You can''t do without the photographer! Maybe ditch all the flowers except your bouquet and that might work!

Addy, you are a very convincing enabler!

Is it even more enabling if I say that it isn''t hard to be convincing with a stone like that? I''d hate to see the rush of phone calls to Jeff and the fights break out if you return it!!

I ditto Gypsy here. I do wonder though, after seeing pics of it in your temp setting if the size might work fine even in a 3 stone. i know you wanted a bit larger but it looks pretty big sitting solo, add the half moon or whatever sides you want and you''ve got quite a ring. plus, I''m kinda silly with the *rules* of stud size/pendant size vs. e-ring that although it''s a colored stone, I wouldn''t want it a ton larger than my e-ring. it really is an amazing stone though. would you be sad to send it back and find out someone else bought it?

Beautiful stone DS! It really looks great on your hand.

I have a question if you don''t mind. How did you describe to Jeff White what you color perference is?

Absolutely gorgeous! I love love love the color - it looks amazing on your hand - i think that stone would look spectacular in a halo, or in any other setting for that matter! congrats

It is truly beautiful.

And I totally do not understand what you mean about not wanting an asscher AND a cushion. Are you a self-respecting PS''er or what? Of course you should have both. teeheee!

Are there any other Jeff White beauties floating around? Can we - his fan club - start a thread?

Oh it is soooo pretty! What a difference in the two cuts, wow! Anyway you set that beauty will look amazing!

Thank you! I emailed him and told him I wanted sapphire studs in a beautiful blue that was not too dark. I told him that someday I''d like ring stones in asscher and cushion shapes, one a lighter blue (like Neatfreak''s) and the other a richer blue color. The only thing I had in my mind was that I wanted the cushion to be large enough to be a 3 stone, because I figured the asscher would likely have a halo. I am convinced that any blue stone he cuts will be beautiful. So I wish I had the money to have one in every shade!

I do think I would be sick to see someone else buy it and set it and come back and post it on SMTR! I would probably think "why did I DO that?!!!". It would help me a lot if I could find a setting and be able to really visualize what it would look like set. I do agree that I wouldn''t want a RHR to be really large compared to my wedding set.

Thanks Violet and IG!

You''re right, IG, I do probably need a stone in every shape and color to complete my collection!

Violet, you have a very beautiful color stone in your avatar!

Beautiful. Jeff White is the bomb.

Pretty, pretty stone. Jeff is amazing. I think the size is terrific. I''m just wondering if it''s those white specks that are holding you up from deciding?

Wow! The cut is just AMAZING! What a perfect size too! Oh, I can''t wait to see what you decide to do for the setting!
And personally the inclusions wouldn''t bother me in a colored stone. My sapphire has a small bit of color zoning visible from a certain angle, almost gives it character.

You are reading my mind. I can only do one ring like this and I want it to be perfect. I have emailed Jeff to ask if this is my best option or if he thinks he could get rough as beautiful as this stone with VVS clarity.

Your sapphire is beautiful. I''ve been wating to get a (blue) sapphire as a right hand ring for a long time but have been afraid to do so because I really don''t know much baout colored stones. Seeing yours makes me want to "pull the trigger" as they say. I hope you keep it!

This one is a keeper! It is beautiful. Both this sapphire and neatfreak''s asscher are beautiful in their own ways. This might be gorgeous in a legacy-esque setting..

I knew it... without seeing it in person, it''s hard to know how much they would bug me. Only you can decide what your tolerance is.

Hi LostSapphire,

Thanks Missrocks. I LOVE your stone. I''ve asked Jeff to aim for something minimum 7mm x 9mm, better would be 8mm x 10mm...good finger coverage once I halo it with 3mm diamonds.

I certainly agree that it would be beautiful in a Legacy style setting! I also agree that it would be nice to have both cuts!

Okay, I have talked with Jeff and learned that he can, of course, eventually find other sapphires. However, he said it is not very easy to find sapphires with VVS to IF clarity. In addition, he said this stone was really priced attractively, and he would expect the same material to normally run several hundred to a thousand dollars more for the same color and clarity as this one. And higher clarity would run the price up more. So I am going to have to decide how to balance cost and clarity.

I wonder why I have to love one of the more expensive gemstones!!! And they are certainly harder to find than diamonds!!!

Thanks for all your comments and encouragement kelly, babymonster, cinnamon, Missrocks, Cind11, and Simplysplendid!

I hope to make a decision tomorrow. Jeff said he has had a lot of emails about the stone, so I am sure it will find a great home with some PS member if I don''t keep it!
