I do think I would be sick to see someone else buy it and set it and come back and post it on SMTR! I would probably think ''why did I DO that?!!!''. It would help me a lot if I could find a setting and be able to really visualize what it would look like set. I do agree that I wouldn''t want a RHR to be really large compared to my wedding set.Date: 3/15/2008 1:17:53 PM

It would look AMAZING in a halo. But Actually I''d want it three stoned with half moons from Leon. But that''s just me.
No the inclusions wouldn''t bother me. It''s a sapphire, and it''s got birthmarks.
I ditto Gypsy here. I do wonder though, after seeing pics of it in your temp setting if the size might work fine even in a 3 stone. i know you wanted a bit larger but it looks pretty big sitting solo, add the half moon or whatever sides you want and you''ve got quite a ring. plus, I''m kinda silly with the *rules* of stud size/pendant size vs. e-ring that although it''s a colored stone, I wouldn''t want it a ton larger than my e-ring. it really is an amazing stone though. would you be sad to send it back and find out someone else bought it?
Thanks! Ohhh.. Can''t wait to see what you end up with!Date: 3/16/2008 7:10:06 PM

Wow! The cut is just AMAZING! What a perfect size too! Oh, I can''t wait to see what you decide to do for the setting!
And personally the inclusions wouldn''t bother me in a colored stone. My sapphire has a small bit of color zoning visible from a certain angle, almost gives it character.
Missrocks: what size is your stone?
Hi LostSapphire,
Mine is 3.40 carats, measures something like 8.10 x 9.05mm.
Thanks Missrocks. I LOVE your stone. I''ve asked Jeff to aim for something minimum 7mm x 9mm, better would be 8mm x 10mm...good finger coverage once I halo it with 3mm diamonds.
Thanks!Date: 3/16/2008 5:04:49 PM

As for setting suggestions....
Here''s what I''d do with it, in a heartbeat:
I know. It is a huge dilemma. I really am not expecting loupe clean, though.Date: 3/17/2008 12:49:02 PM

That is one heck of a sapphire. For a stone that size and colour, you can''t get any better pricing than what Jeff is asking for. If you want a loupe clean stone, be prepared to add hundreds if not thousands $ more.
I agree, Neatfreak! I certainly hope it goes to another PSer! In the meanwhile, we''ll just gaze at YOURS!!!!Date: 3/17/2008 10:15:45 PM

I think that makes perfect sense DS. Although I WILL say that I REALLY REALLY hope this stone does go to another PSer so I can continue to gaze at it!!!!
Well, it is a beautiful stone, but I can relate to your reasoning for making your decision. I just sent back a nice stone about 2 weeks ago because it is not *exactly* what I wanted. I am still looking, and I am planning on saving a little more $$$$, because like you, I am only getting one blue sapphire and want to get it right.Date: 3/17/2008 9:49:39 PM

But my friend MrsSalvo has this tag line:
''A deal is only a deal if you are getting exactly what you want.''
This stone is almost exactly what I want, but not quite. It truly is gorgeous and special for some very lucky person. But I can only afford to do one blue sapphire in a Leon Mege setting, so it has to be exactly what I want. This one is so close and is such a nice price. But I just can''t do it because I have made this mistake so many times in the past. I know Jeff will eventually find the perfect stone for me, and even if I have to pay more, it will be worth it (not that I have unlimited money in case you read this, Jeff!). I weigh things out by the saying, ''when in doubt, don''t''. This has always worked for me when I actually went by it!
I emailed Jeff to let him know. He told me before that he had had several emails when I posted the stone and said I was undecided. He probably already has a waiting list. So I am sure it will find a good home very soon!
I think Jeff is immensely talented, and I hope to buy several gemstones from him in the future! But the sapphire will be first on my priority list! I just have to be patient until he can find the right one. It was certainly my pleasure to enjoy this one for a few days!

Well, I mailed the beautiful stone back today, so Jeff should have it around Thursday. It will be fun to see who ends up with it!
Thanks, S! I just have to learn to be patient!
DD, I''d say that I''d like one very close to this one...cushion, rich blue not too dark, extremely well cut, around 7.9-8.0 mm. I know I cannot get into the 3 carat range as expensive as great sapphires are. So somewhere around 2.5 to 2.75 or so is probably what I''ll be aiming for. Really, I''d take this exact stone with high clarity.
ltlfirecracker, I hope you find your perfect stone soon, too! It is funny that you, DD, LS, and I are all looking for blue sapphires at the same time!
LostSapphire, I hope Jeff can find rough for you soon, too! It will be so much fun watching everyone complete their sapphire rings!

I sent it back to him yesterday, so it''ll likely be tomorrow that he gets it back. I think you were wise to email him because there is no telling if the emails were all serious or not. Plus, some people might see it and think it is not the right size, etc. So getting on the list is a good idea!Date: 3/19/2008 5:09:08 PM

I wonder if this is still available. I just emailed the cutter. You''d expect that ''a flurry of emails'' would have this thing sold. If not, I think I''ll buy it.
