@cocobianco was the trendsetter for this sapphire style but after several weeks of waiting, my own version finally arrived.

It’s pretty awesome. It needs light to show its colors but as long as there is sufficient, fairly direct light it is very cool. In super bright sunlight it glows purple or hot pink unlike anything I have seen before. The blue edge is subtle. There are orange inclusions in there too. The only concern I have is one corner has a small chip or natural surface inclusion so I hope that doesn’t affect setting.

It’s a little over 2cts.

And now for the photos….

I assume there is a story behind it...? =)2

Ha! I hate to disappoint but the story isn’t that interesting but let’s see how it goes.

So I saw this stone listed on Etsy and I was fascinated by the variation in color that was almost gradient-like. I wasn’t sure I wanted to splurge and then the stone went on hold and I was sad. And the I saw it was available again so I asked some questions and negotiated a bit and then made the purchase.

While I waited for my new baby to arrive @cocobianco posted her Galaxy sapphire which has similar color variation, stealing my thunder (kidding)! But as no two stones are alike, mine ended up quite nice indeed. The glow of this stone reminds me of what a top ruby must look like except it’s more of a purplish-pink.

How was that for a story?

I did notice a slight chip/inclusion on one corner when I louped it so I’m trying to determine if that will cause setting problems but hopefully it’s small enough. Here are a couple of photos of that spot.

Yours definitely have much more purple/pink compared to mine. The blue part in mine is dark, pretty much black in not so ideal lighting situations but it was as expected. I was definitely not expecting a trade ideal color stone and love it the way it is, they are all one of a kind:) I hope the chip/surface natural won't be a problem for you.

Thanks. The blue in mine is dark also. It’s not even noticeable sometimes because the pink takes over. I haven’t had it long enough to play with it very much in different lighting. I do think it needs decent bright light to show it’s personality but I expected that.

Yours is really neat too. These are fun stones.

Really pretty sapphire! And great size also. Great find!

I have a purple sapphire(the one in my avatar) that I am crazy about that still sits in a plain, boring setting. I’ve been wearing it every day lately. I love all it’s color changes. It’s probably my absolute favorite color in my kitchen.

How are you going to set yours?

Can I see photos of yours? I’m intrigued.

I purchased a used ring that I think will fit this stone. Here’s a photo.

That will be pretty!
These are some pics of it. Most of the time it mostly shows purple and pink. But in good lighting you can see a little blue also.B1F86AE4-06BA-4825-B42F-2122AC975BCC.jpeg

Gorgeous! Does it still show color in low light? Mine looks pretty dark without some bright light.

It doesn’t look too great in low light. I need to take some new pics. It’s been a long time since I’ve taken any.
I love the orange in yours and how it looks hot pink in some of your pics.

This is a thread on mine. https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/my-new-purple-sapphire.204592/

I had a chance to play with it more today in various lighting and it is definitely a bright light to sunlight-loving stone. It is very dark in low light and very vibrant pink in bright light. The annoying thing is that the various colors show up better in photos than in real life in most lighting. There is a sweet spot where you can see them all but not easily.

I’m trying to decide the best way to enjoy this stone. As a specimen or do I still want to wear it in a ring? I seem to spin the stone around a lot to see the colors so I wish there was a spin top ring setting!

Very pretty and interesting!

I have a small pale pink/yellow to blue radiant cut sapphire that does this! Almost dropped my teeth when I saw it. It's a cool feature, isn't it? Raspberry.

Very cool. I wasn’t expecting the whole stone to light up evenly because of all the different colors it has.

I'm crazy for the different colors in you stone. You will not get bored with this.

I can’t wait to see how you set it, but I’m assuming quite open to take advantage of all the color display. Congratulations!

If you scroll up you can see the setting I am thinking of repurposing. I will say that the photos look a bit more colorful than it does in real life but in the right light you can see all the colors. It’s super bright pink in bright light.

Lol - I scrolled right past it and missed it. I saw your purple setting, though. Your proposed setting is really nice! May I ask where you found it? So far I haven’t found many preloved settings - but clearly many others have. Maybe I scroll right past them, too? ;-)2

The purple stone setting is another PSer’s ring. I found mine on eBay but I haven’t yet taken it to a jeweler to see if it will work. It is really hard to find used settings that fit non-standard sized stones. My stone is smaller than the one in there so I’m hoping it will sit a bit lower and the prongs can be adjusted without too much expense.

I could swear I saw that pink sapphire on SapphirePal's website. It's so lovely with those hints of orange at the ends.

I have purchased from Sapphire Pal before but not this one. They do have one that looks to be super bright magenta with some purple like this though. I got this from a new Etsy seller based in Sri Lanka. He has some nice gems. My newest blue sapphire came from him too. He’s a nice guy and very responsive. He seems to be very honest too.
