Mara - I''ve got the same issue re: TV tonight...

I''m going to tivo survivor and flip between DWS and AI...I figure AI isn''t really important until the last bit...

And, unfortunately, I am also a HUGE iceskating fan. Not so much that Michelle Kwan is gone, but still...so I figure I''ll tivo that when they replay it after midnight.

So much tv. So little time.

Chris was super yummy and sexy! Love those bald guys for some reason...I''d take him over Ace any day of the week!

We''re not huge AI fans, but we got snagged by Taylor on the auditions! You can''t help but grin when you watch him sing, or at least we can''t. Perhaps, it has something to do with the fact that we''re not huge Pop music fans, so most of the contestants just annoy the hell out of us?

The Copacobana thing made me feel like I was at a cheap (actually probably free) Vegas show! The falsetto thing turned me off as well...and we were in shock when Randy and Paula liked it? And, the one really young kid sounds like he''s singing the soundtrack to some Disney movie!

But, the very worst of all...people have started noticing (and commenting) on the fact that my husband looks like a younger, slimmer version of Simon! He''s also cuter and less smug looking, and of course taller, but there is a definite resemblance! Arrrggghhhh!

i know i am torn...i mean on one hand i dont need to see the whole of AI....and i dont want to miss survivor. so i may just tivo survivor and DWS and then just find out who got nixed on AI later tonite online, i mean it''s not like it''s the last week or anything, this is the first cut and i didn''t even vote this time! so we''ll see how i feel later today.

LOL - we had the same reaction! We were watching - and then got all excited to see what new interesting way Paula was going to come up with to say "I love you lots, but you really sucked" without actually having to sound like she was saying anything bad. And then they both go and say how great it was? Yikes.

We looked at each other with a "oh no, we agree with Simon!" -- and I have to say we shared that look many times last night. Randy and Paula were giving out props left and right about stuff that made NO sense.

LOL Greg typically agrees with Simon on most people...which is pretty funny.

those are my thoughts. my sister has TiVo and is doing the recording but is in the same delima. I figured I MUST watch DWS and it''s only the first set of cuts for AI so I really wouldn''t be missing too much..

So does my hubby. I can hardly get him to watch, it just drives him nuts, but nothing else intersting was on last night so he agreed to watch until 8:00 (criminal minds). Hubby loves Earth Wind and Fire and I was sitting there listening to sway thinking, Oh no, he''s butchering one of hubby''s favorites, now he''ll never watch with me again
39.gif
. Hubby actually said he hit a couple of nice notes, but over all it was so-so and was also not into the pip daddy outfit

I agree with Simon 99.9% of the time. I hate when he doesn''t know how to put someone down so he resorts to the "I feel like I''m at some dark, cheap nightclub on karaoke night." He needs to come up with some more creative insults.

When I saw Elliott about to perform, I yelled at Mark - this guy looks like a thug. What''s with the chinstrap holding his hair on?
But I ended up agreeing with Simon that he is one of the best male vocalist of all the seasons. My all-time favorite was Mario Vasquez who dropped out on his own midway through (was that last season?) Elliot has unbelievable control over his voice!!!!

LOL - check this out:
http://www.cnn.com/2006/SHOWBIZ/TV/02/23/americanidol.twins.ap/index.html

looks like Becky was being a trampy model pre-Idol. They actually call her a "vocalist" in the article. I would beg to differ.
That''s being a little too mean - but really the only reason she is still in the competitiion is her looks and the kitchy value of her having a twin sister....
It will be interesting to see what Fox says about it all....

Ok, so I''m going to make the prediciton now that both twins end up on the E!channel hosting "Wild On" or some sort of "Taradise" show. LOL! It''s all about exposure for them, obviously.

I think Elliot is definitely the most talented out of the guys. He blew me away! He didn''t have a single sharp or flat note (I can''t say that for anyone else on the show). He does have bad teeth, but that is correctable!
2.gif

I agree that Paris was too bouncy....she made me dizzy as well. It''s like, come on girl, take a chill pill.

It''s not just his teeth!! He is just so icky to me...I don''t know why. He''s like a horrible KFed looking type. His voice is an anomaly!

he TOTALLY reminds me of KFed. LOL

my boyfriend described him: "He''s that guy that is standing outside a bar - drunk as hell wanting to start fights. Wearing a pimed out sweat suit with a basketball jersey underneath"

So! I missed it and can''t find it on idolonfox.com so who got voted off?!

Mara,

I suffered through the hour-long process and only because there is no remote in the workout room or I would have flipped. (I work out during all my reality shows so my husband doesn''t complain

)

For the girls:

They started off with who got the least number of votes. That was Becky O''Donague!!! Yay!!! There is justice and who can sing remain! BUT they still made her sing. It was just as bad as the first time. Someone needs to tell that girl that you must breathe while you sing. I''m glad to see her go. The judges said she has a great career ahead of her. Do you remember the names of the first contestant voted off American Idol 1, 2, 3 or 4? I don''t.

Second girl voted off AI: Stevie Scott. I was sad it wasn''t Brenna but I''m glad that I won''t have to see or hear Stevie''s "I''m such a sweet girl" act anymore. It was getting annoying. She sang her swan song and at first I thought, hey she might sound pretty good here but she cracked and rather than staying with her big girl voice she went into the girlie falsetto for the end and it just stank. Bye Bye Stevie.

For the Boys:

Least number of votes: Bobby. No surprise there. He sang Copacabana again. In the words of Little. Meh. Sorry Bobby, you seem sweet but, i couldn''t suffer through another performance.

The only SHOCKING choice for me was the demise of Patrick Hall. Okay folks. Sure he''s geeky and has no style but you gotta wait at least 3 weeks until the stylists are on payroll. Everyone knows they do their own hair, outfits and makeup for the first 3 weeks. I mean, just look at Melissa McGuee''s overmade face and Becky O''Donogues outfit last night and tell me I''m not right?! Anyways, Patrick got the second to least amount of votes and got voted off. He sang again and although he''s a bit Michael Boltonish I wondered why it wasn''t Sway or David or Will... it certainly shouldn''t have been him.

And that''s a rap!

yeah, they did tell Becky that she was going places......but they did say that they thought it would be modeling or acting, becuz the camera "loves" her. Simon said to stick to something your really good at (modeling), rather than trying something, you''re only "ok" at.

yuck....so glad she is gone....her song sounded so evil, and I kept waiting for the horns to poke out of her head.

I agree- Bobby, Becky and Stevie all needed to go. Although there was a few seconds where I let myself hope that Brenna would be going. Ah well -I know the folks that vote aren''t THAT smart. he he

I really didn''t think that Patrick would be going home last night - I was REALLY hoping for David or even Sway myself.
I mean you know Patrick never would have won but I REALLY don''t want to have to watch David do his little "I''m so cute cause I''m a teenager and I''m doing a half-baked impersonation of Frank Sinatra" routine anymore. Dude has to go back to doing talent show night at his high school.

let''s hope everyone picks up the pace and stops picking crappy songs next week.

Oh - and as an afterthought: I thought Paula was going to have a wardrobe malfunction. Her shirt was cut so low - I really never needed to see that much cleavage from her. EVER.

Thanks for the updates, sounds like nothing super exciting, so I''m glad I missed it...hehehe. Seriously I don''t even remember which one Becky is! Kind of sad about Stevie but she dug her own grave with that weird song that was horrible for her voice.

As long as my faves are still there (yay Kellie, hope she can do better next week!) that''s all I care about!

At least DWS will be over next week so I won''t have that odd conflict with 3 shows again!

Here are my entirely unsolicited thoughts.

Keep in mind that I have not bothered to really learn the names of the folks that left...cause they are gone...and my brain only has so much room for relatively useless information...

Overall -
I wasn't surprised about the copacabana guy...and again, I didn't watch when he sang...I was just embarassed for him.

Similarly, I was not surprised when the opera girl got the boot - and did anyone see how HALF-A$$ED she clapped for everyone? It was so uninterested and half-a$$ed that I actually thought there was something wrong with her arm...but when she got up to walk to the stage, it seemed to move just fine. Moral of that story: Not. Impressed. Anyhoodle...

I was a little surprised that the super pretty girl that was in one of those boy magazines...maxim, FHM, whatevah, she wasn't so good...pretty but not so good. Pretty usually takes you far in these competetions. Jasmine Trias from two seasons ago, I'm looking at you.

But I must say I was really surprised that the skinny meh boy went home. He was actually pretty good. Best of the mehs. I actually kind of liked him. It just doesn't seem right that he's gone and Sucky Bucky (my new nickname for him) is still there.

Edited because missing words not good.

I love you Little! Please start your own American Idol Blog LOL!

awwwwww, thanks fortheloveofdiamonds... I''m just a snarky gal that loves some American Idol... I can''t help it!

I''m just thinking that I REALLY hope that them putting Brenna up there with trampy model girl for the "who has the lowest votes" part won''t act as a plea for sympathy for Brenna. I''m thinking a la Nikki from season one - she of the cute punk-girl persona who really wasn''t as good as Kelly, Justin OR Tamyra Grey. They put her in the bottom 2 a couple of times in a row and all of a sudden she is in the top 3??

i loves me some snark!

sucky bucky...omg i''m dying here!

Am I the only one here who doesn''t like Taylor? His twitching and neck movements annoy me so much...is he just trying to imitate James Brown or what?

And that Brenna...don''t get me started!

I''m still vastly amused by him! I live in So.Cal and I get soooo sick of all the pretty people (even if my hubby thinks I''m one of them

)...and it''s refreshing to see someone "different" on the show! He definitely stands out!

I''ve been skipping past the girls, cuz the guys seem to be less generic to me at this point!?

Little: You should change your screen name to snarkylittlelysser!

from an MSN article - talking about the hour long drama for a simple elimination process
11.gif

And this is just the first week of eliminations. To keep this level of intensity and excitement up, Ryan will have to unleash pit bulls onto the contestants during week six. “If a dog doesn’t latch on to your neck, you’re safe.” Or maybe he’ll really try to ratchet up the emotion, to force out some tears: “One of you is safe, but I just found out your beloved grandmother died this morning. The other will go home, where you’ll find that our producers stomped your kitten to death.”

Hey, y''all are dissing all my homeboys. Elliot, Bucky, Chris...

That said, I do believe that the boys are more talented than the girls this year.

Anyone know who was voted off Survivor?
