Idk why I thought it was 10 carats,it looks to be more like 15-20,my most gawdy ring,but definitely a favorite as well

It's actually a loose stone that was put in a cheap setting I picked up at the antique store with a cheap setting for a steal,I paid much less than I would've for the comparable stone I found

Look for allready set stones,I've seen fairly large stones with great depth of color for cheaper than most vendors

I just got an amethyst cab from Jeff Davies...smooth cab top with brilliant facets in the pavillion:

I have a rose de france amethyst coming from Mastercut gems... with a rosecut top and brilliant cut pavillion (I cannot wait to get it!)

I like the deep colour. Some African amethysts also have good deep colour. I can't seem to find ready-set Siberian amethysts very easily though.
