Ammolite NATURAL or with Coating?

Hi,

I am interested in buying some Ammolite and make them into jewelry. Should I get the Natural ones ? or the one with the coating on top ( doublet or triplet)?

Ammolite is extremely delicate and thin and is only 3.5 to 4.5 on the Mohs scale. I had a doublet shatter when the manufacturer tried removing the stone to put into a new setting (the original setting had casting issues). Ammolite is best suited for pendants/necklaces or earrings. If Ammolite is set into a ring keep in mind it would not be an everyday ring.
