I cut this ampa tourmaline a long time ago..was maybe my 4th stone I ever cut..I probably posted pics before but that was when i didn''t have my good camera..1.63ct..pics taken under 2 Ott Fluorescent lights and LED lights that surround the lens

These are from the dravite family and come from india..they have odd pleochroic properties..some were almost all are brown with either a geenish dichroic color, a yellowish, a red-reddish, or a cognac color down the other axis..as partially seen in this back shot

Puuurty

that is sweet!
Real nice too how the light ring gets right into the center so you get great three dimensional space in the stone.

WOW, nice cutting for the fourth stone you ever cut!

Pretty stone.

Great color - I like how the cut brings out the fiery hues of the stone; I definitely see some cognac/copper as well.

Very pretty!

not a bad color for a Dravite...lol

I like it, very cool! Great job :)

I remember this stone, but it''s nice to see it again, I''ve mentioned many times how much I love neutral colors in gems! IMO dravites are quite undervalued, cause I''d say they can look the way many andalusites can only dream to, so to speak.

Interesting colour (like root beer). Great cut too.

The facet pattern is really pretty! I’d love something like that if I ever purchased a trillion stone.

I''m impressed! The cut looks awesome and there''s something about the color that draws me in as well.

I really enjoy that colour - and the faceting plays it up nicely. I am always drawn to colours in the brown/copper/orange family. It is so very yummy looking!

Thanks everyone..ya know usually when you buy a gemstone you don''t want any brown..like a spess..well when you start with a brown stone like this Dravite tourmaline..you expect to get brown..was pleasently surprised that this brown stone had a little extra color to it

Well, I''m not a lapidary, but if that''s the fourth stone you ever cut, you need to cut more rough and sell it!!

thanks TL..if i could post the video you would see the girlde has thickness issues and the meets are off in places but not bad..faceting is really easy..the machine does the work for you..sold my machine a month ago..don''t have time to cut and when i pick it back up again am going to get a top of the line machine..or close to it at least..as of now i will just use George Ellis to cut my stones..does a fantastic job..precision i could never do

Okay, I need to get a faceting machine if that''s the case. LOL!

This is another one from the same batch that Jason cut from. It was darker and it shows. Plus, I cut it along the A/C axis seeing if I could get a little green to show. Not too much joy. Dark rough just wants to be a dark stone. The cut is just a standard ECED cut corner emerald.

Edge Center-to-End Design - The cut corners and edges have the same center point, so the mast height does not change cutting the ends or the cut corners - it is easier to then make the meets later by cutting to the numbers. If you have a very accurate faceting machine, you can cut to the degree and it will all match.

Well, it is a bit like doing math homework and building a science project. If that works for you...

I sold my machine..I have more folks who can cut stones for me it''s jast as easy for me to trade some rough or cash and get a stone cut...i just don''t have the time...I know where George lives so I make him cut stuff for me all the time..i tell him if he doesn''t I will salt his yard
