Anchor''s mom health update

Hey all. I want to reiterate how greatful I am for everyone''s support when I posted about my mom''s breast cancer diagnosis last week. You''re an amazing bunch of people.

She had a lumpectomy on Tuesday. I''ve had several surgeries in my young life and she always took great care of me, and it was destabilizing and heart-wrenching to see her in the hospital bed. But she was a real trooper as always and cracked jokes about being drunk/stone as soon as she was awake. Once they gave her something to help with the nausea (we''re really bad handling drugs in our systems...

), she was able to go home. She''s now doing great and resting at home.

She had her doctor''s appointment this morning and they had the results for the lymph node analysis and other tests, and she''s basically cancer free now. They''ll do some preventive radiotherapy, but that''s it. So all is well.

So again, thank you very much everyone. I''ve been in a bit of a funk for the last few days, but FI and my friends have been truly wonderful. Now if I can get a nice summer job, my happiness will be complete!

I was just thinking about you the other day and wondering how your mom was doing! I''m glad to hear she''s doing well. I''m walking in The Race for the Cure on mothers day. I don''t know how familiar you are with it, but you get a piece of paper to pin to the back (or front) of your shirt that says I''m walking to remember or in honor of and you list the people you''re walking for. I''m thinking that this year I''m going to add "Anchor''s Mom" to my list

I''m so glad they were able to catch it early and that she''s on the road to recovery. It''s definitely scary to see your parent after surgery...they look so vulnerable, which isn''t how we kids generally think of our parents...but it''s a wonderful thing that her prognosis is good!

Sarah - My dad, my two siblings and I are pitching in together to buy her an iPod for Mother''s Day. I''m sure she''ll be thrilled, she always uses dad''s.

Robbie - Yes, I''m familiar with the Run for the Cure. The Jewish General Hospital in Montreal is having a Walk for the Cure soon. My mom''s name is Louise if you want to write her name. I''m very touched and I''m sure mom will be too.
