Back again with another episode of: do you think this is a pink sapphire?.. or something else? Hahaha.
Came across this one in a small lot I picked up at an auction incorrectly labeled as "costume jewelry"! The Band is labeled and tests at 18K, that alone makes this not costume! I'm now wondering if the stone is also real? Can a pink sapphire make a diamond tester go go off? What's everyone's opinion? Thanks again in advance!

This is also going to be a synthetic. It is a large, clean stone set without diamonds that you bought for very little money. These retro settings were a popular choice for synthetics, even when 18k. You'll remember from the other thread that synthetic sapphires are composed of the same material as natural, untreated sapphires, and therefore will register as sapphire on a gem tester. They are however worth very little absent the gold setting, which you could sell for scrap. Have you compared your two stones? Do they look fairly similar?

I have, they do not, this one looks much more "cloudy" I'd call it under a regular 20x loupe, and this one only glows about half as much as the other one. This one also looks much more orange when glowing, the other one is more pink. I know, I did all the same "at home" tests as the other one basically. I'm Just posting for opinions and such haha. I'm hopefully going to meet up with a gemologist this coming week finally!
