I have too much free time on my hands. ..lots of online window shopping (mostly) but I just bought this . Its in sterling. Seller says not glass, no flouresence, no UV reaction. She couldn't id the stone. To me it looks like an old zircon cut. These are the best pics I have for now. I'm of course hoping it is zircon, but won't be able to judge til I get it.
Any opinions ?

I'm hoping it's zircon as well. The facet pattern looks similar to zircon, but I couldn't see the double refraction from vendor pictures. Another possibility might be YAG?

Ok, I’m also gong to guess zircon. Perhaps, Cambodian blue zircon?

Unfortunately the pics are not very crisp, so I cannot decipher if double refraction or not. The cut caught my eye as is very similiar to the classic zircon cut. It was very inexpensive so no loss if its not, but I'll be thrilled if it is. Could be topaz too. I do like the color!

I think zircon

I just reread and seller did say there are some tiny inclusions with magnification. Which makes me think more zircon not topaz.

I would also guess zircon.

Second thread this concept has come up on this week. Can you tell me what it is that you are looking for in the photo that would indicate double refraction? Thank you!

Zircon is doubly refractive, so that in photos there's kind of a doubling or blurring you can see in the facets. Best seen in the bottom left pic in this collage. (All but top left are confirmed blue zircon). 20200402_165715.jpg

I see very slight color zoning (slightly whiter) in opposite quadrants. That's common in blue zircons.

Just circling back to say I got the ring and have no doubt it is blue zircon. The cutting is not precision and there are some minor facet abrasions (not visible to the naked eye). But, she's a fireball in the sunlight, so I'm happy with this sub $70 dollar purchase ;)
