Here's another Sugarloaf Amethyst ring. Sterling silver. This time I filed grooves into the band to accent the geometric look of the stone.

I love sugarloaf cabs and so jealous of your metalwork skills. I took a workshop a year or so ago hoping to get into it....alas neither the time or natural talent to do anything more. How long have you been making jewlery?

I've been doing silver work for about 15-16 years. I took a 3 hr. class with a Native American woman from Zuni Pueblo here in New Mexico. She taught me the basics. After that, I burned a lot of silver and cracked a lot of stones! But that's how you learn!
