Any good experiences with Gemsny?

Anyone every bought gemstones from them before? Are there "excellent brilliance" stones as sparkly in real life?
Any help would be appreciated.

I remember a thread where GEMSNY did get a bad threshing because they offered a lead-filled ruby as 'all-natural' and priced as untreated. I didn't find it now, but the search egine here on the site is good for that.

I have not been impressed with the quality offered (when weighted against the cost). Most of them have horrible cuts.

I believe this is one of the vendors I discovered on the TV network, evine. I liked the designs of the jewelry he showed, but he gave no info on treatments. The prices were low enough to tell me these were highly treated gems. So, I was unimpressed.

I live in NYC and I had a chance to stop by their offices in person. You have to make an appointment, but I got to see 10-15 rubies in person and they didn't pressure me to buy anything. (I did end up buying something though.) Their website doesn't display the gems as clearly as possible, it's better to make an appointment and go in person if you can.

I just wanted to echo meladori's experience with Gemsny. I did actually buy a lovely pair of blue-green Colombian emeralds from them some time back, and visited with them the last time I was in NYC. They are very polite and friendly and happy to pull out stones to look through. I agree with the statement that it is not always possible to evaluate the quality of their stones from the pictures on their website, and that if you have the opportunity to go in person to see what you're interested in, you're much more likely to be satisfied with the results. They did mention to me that the majority of their sales were actually wholesale to jewelers for finished pieces, and that their direct-to-consumers business was only a small part of what they do.
