This is an old family ring that I am totally in love with, and I really don't care if it's an actual gemstone, or what the stone is, but I've always been curious and would appreciate your thoughts on what the center stone might be! Could it be some kind of clear labradorite, or a grey sapphire?

This is mystic topaz, a popular stone in the 1980s-90s.
It is a clear topaz with an undercoating that gives it a rainbow coloration. I have several, myself!
The colors will be more vibrant if you gently clean it with dish soap and a soft brush.
