Hello all! My name is Amanda, and I''''m new to the forum.

My boyfriend and I are starting to look at engagement rings, and we''''ve got a few that we particularly like. As far as style goes, we both like the traditional look of a solitaire and the unique look of a bezel set stone. (I''''m not a HUGE fan of prongs...)

I adore the endless love collection from Ritani, and recently we saw the Movado diamond, which I like as well.

Our price range for shopping goes up to about $15,000 (I also hit the floor when he told me) so I would like something special.

Does anyone have any suggestions about either the Ritani or the Movado? Or does anyone know of any other bezel set-looking diamonds or unique settings you think I should see and consider?

Thanks for your posts!

Neatfreak has a gorgeous bezeled cushion from ERD. Do a search and you''ll see lots of pics on the thread.

You might want to look at James Meyer or Caleb Meyer. Their style is probably more organic than Ritani, so I don''t know if you''d like that or not.

Why thank you! I''m blushing over here. I love it...it was custom made by Engagement Rings Direct. If you want something truly unique you can design something yourself!

As beautiful as the Endless Love rings are, unique they aren''t...they are one of the most popular styles these days.

I did like the "uniqueness" of the Caleb Meyer rings... they are beautiful, and I''m actually going to Philadelphia this weekend, so maybe I will check them out- rings are always much more beautiful in person, of course. I would think it might be difficult to pair a wedding bands with those rings... but I could be totally wrong! Hopefully I can con my boyfriend into going to look at them with me!

I guess I''m just not sure what I want. I don''t think I know enough yet to design my own- I''m still looking for ideas.

I do like a low setting, though- I think that''s what drives me away from prongs and leads me towards a bezel setting... NeatFreak, your ring is gorgeous, and it looks great with your wedding band.

We''re not really in a hurry to get engaged (all though it''s been 3 years) - Matt and I are still in school. I think he wants to propose perhaps over winter break. (But I could be wrong) He''s leaving to go to Germany for the YEAR, starting in September, and I''ll be visiting him there in December. This summer, he''s in Washington DC and I''ve been visiting the last week. There are a lot of nice jewelry stores here, though! I can''t say I haven''t enjoyed looking everywhere!

Sigh- so many choices! I hoping when I see the one I want, I''ll know it! Right now, Ritani is probably my favorite- it still has a unique look to me, despite it being popular. Nobody I talk to (my friends) know of Ritani, so at least I would be unique within my group of friends... ha ha.

Thanks for your advice- feel free to educate me on whatever you feel is essential when ring shopping!

Oh, and I meant to ask- what is ERD?

I really like the Sholdt Design semi bezel ... don''t know which online places carry them but they have a lot of locations listed on their website. And, gosh, what was the place those gorgeous blue sapphire bezel studs came from?? Blanking! Help!!

Sorry- It''s Engagement Rings Direct. Mark Turnowski is the owner, and he is just fabulous. He is one of our very loyal PS vendors here. He is in NYC. Sells diamonds, settings (including Ritani for a great price, my first ring was a Ritani!), and also does custom work.

If I had a round this is totally what I would have gotten. I LOVE this setting too. Gorgeous. And unique!

Green Lake also does really nice bezels. There are plenty in their gallery, but they''re not all grouped together. Bluekeet''s half-bezel is one of my all-time favorites; I believe hers is a Cartier copy.

Two of my favorite jewelry websites. I can''t get enough of their designs.

Amanda - I forgot to say - Welcome!

Another site with some nice bezeled rings is http://www.crossjewelers.com I really love the "Dubliner" but it is a 3-stone ring. Lady Captain (Admiral?) is another solitaire bezel on the same site.

Neatfreak - you are so welcome. Your ring is LOVELY!

I like Pearlman''s Beverley K collection item numbers 99PP1 and 101PP1.

That Shodt and BlueKeets are my all time favorite bezels all time.

They do carry them and they have a great selection! I think that Sholdt is one of the best contemporary jewelry makers out there--especially for half bezel mountings.

Selkie''s? They came from Cross Jewelers in Portland Me. I can''t find the link, but I''m pretty sure that''s right.Linky

If I had your budget, I''d choose a nice 1 carat Etoile from Tiffany''s. I''m not usually a brand-name person, but when it comes to the Etoile, I have yet to see anyone do it as nicely as Tiffany''s does.

profile... Ahhh... my dream ring...

Good luck with your search!

Hi Amanda, welcome to PS! What an exciting time for you!

How about this setting from WF, it's very unique and shows off the stone beautifully. I think it was a PS member who designed it orginally? I seem to remember seeing this ring posted in SMTR?

Are you open to purchasing online? For that budget you could get a stunning diamond! We would be happy to suggest some!

Good luck with the search!

ETA - Did a quick search, not sure how large you want to go, but if you want to spend say around 12-13k on the stone, that leaves plenty for setting. What a great budget. These stones look nice, not sure how big you want to go though. These are way under budget though.

Thanks for all of your posts! You definitely opened my eyes to some new styles that I had no considered before! (and also just made my decision 10 times harder... ha ha).

I was asked if I would be opposed to buying online- the answer is no, as long as it was a reputable dealer- any good suggestions?

I''m sure I''ll have more questions to ask of you all during my search! Thanks a bunch!

I don''t know if I am too late for this, but...I absolutely adore the Tiffany Lucida Bezel engagement ring. From what I hear, it gets a bit pricey, but I love bezels and have been trying to search this site for a hand shot (all of the pics that are available don''t load for me). Here is the link - it''s on my wish list... Tiffany Lucida Bezel ring

I was going to say the Etoile too. Here is a nice one at SignedPieces.

I am currently having my stone set into a semi bezel setting (see Sholdt) by my local jeweller here in the UK. I love this look, I am a fan of the Etoile setting, but don''t like the fact that the band is the same width as the stone, it is a bit too bulky for my taste, it is, however gorgeous for a smaller stone. I think the Sholdt or any of Etienne Perret''s designs would be of interest........

Sorry to thread jack...
Since you live in the UK, do you mind me asking if you have ever heard of Quincys? I was interested in a ring they offered once on Ebay and wasn''t sure if they were legit. Thanks.

Some of my favorite sites where I got my ideas were

hkjewellery
gillett''s
krikawa

and most recently
knox jewelers

I would add Green Lake, but you have it already.

As for a reputable jeweler to create it for you, many people here use White Flash.
