Any non-diamond piece you are coveting lately?

The gold mesh necklace posted below is mine. I hate to say this, but I am unsure whether the bracelet posted is one of mine! I found the photo on my computer, but I also have several photos of an Elsa Peretti gold mesh bracelet (which I decided not to buy after looking at my own gold mesh bracelet and deciding that I liked the one I already had more than that one) on my computer! I have all kinds of images all over my computer! So if I have inadvertently posted a photo of your custom made mesh bracelet that you once posted on Pricescope, I apologize! (I do believe it is mine.)

That's really, really cool! What is it? Do you have any close-ups?

As for me ... I'm loving rich yellow gold right now. I still haven't found my lost wedding ring ( ;( ), so I'm starting to consider what I'd like to replace it with. Current options include something rich and yellow and maybe by Singlestone or Alex Seplus or Buccellati ...

I've fallen in love with YG again as well. I'm having a five stone made with a YG shank. Just to be sure I really wanted YG I ordered a 2mm flat 18K YG band from e-weddingbands. I love it!Singlestone has a great selection of YG eternity bands :lickout: Can't wait to see what you choose :))

Any chance you could post a picture? I have several 18kt yg bands on the way to me from e-weddingbands (not pipe cut though), but am dying to see one of their yg rings on someone's hand.

I too am into rich yellow gold. I have some 21kt necklaces from when we used to live in Kuwait and lately, I've been interested in wearing the higher carat stuff more. If anyone has any recommendations for where to buy a plain 22kt yellow gold ring, I'd be appreciative. I've been to some of the Indian stores here but no one seems to have just a plain 2mm band.

Go to a Chinese jewelry store that sells 24k jewelry, which will be most Chinese jewelry stores, preferably in a Chinatown in a larger city. Tell them what you want and they can make it for you in 24k. If you live near SF BAY area we can figure out a way to meet and I'll take you. :)

Thanks, LLJ! Unfortunately, I'm cross country and work in DC's sad little Chinatown, which encompasses maybe 3 or 4 blocks? In the 9 years I've worked in this location, I've not run across any Chinese jewelry stores, but there are a lot of Vietnamese jewelers in the VA suburbs.

Deb, the scarf is GORGEOUS! I'm drooling like mad. I had one in silver but not as finely woven as yours, must have been an earlier design, & sold it a while ago. I couldn't afford the gold one. I'm glad YOU did!

I want these, Carolyn Tyler:

Hell yes. I'm totally digging those super thin yellow gold stacked bands worn all over the fingers (base of finger and midi) in different textures and patterns. I absolutely am lusting for those but I'm nervous about them falling off!

Golden South Sea pearls have been my recent obsession.
I keep putting a very nice necklace in my cart from PP, I keep talking myself out of it! :saint: :saint: :saint:

It's the last "big" piece I want.

It was$7400 when I tried it on in Chicago last August. It went up to $7800 late in the year, and as of a couple of days ago it's $8400.

Bah, humbug.

Yssie, those are FABULOUS. Can that be an end of year project for you, before the next price increase?? Look at what I just tried on...

(We're on the same wavelength, except I'm the baby version.)

image_1606.jpg

It's the sweet collection and it's small enough that it would not hurt my ears... And it comes in black onyx and yellow gold... OMG

OMG yes, they are, and yes, we are on the same wavelength!!

I held off on buying last year because I wanted the Cartier Trinity bangle, and I wasn't sure if the weight would bother me (those three-motif drops are 9grams each!)... and I regret waiting!!!

I've learnt my lesson about sitting on decisions about branded pieces, I suppose. So... are Sweet Alhambra onyx and YG earrings in your future, after the studs? :Up_to_something:

Which ones, madelise? I have been into thin stacking bands for years and years and years and want to know which ones you are referring to.

No, more very thin ones like these attached below....

I love rich rich yellow gold (20-22kt YUM!) but I know it's not possible to do something so dainty like that.. nor is it practical to give into a trendy thing with something so luxurious. I've found a vender that sells these for $35/ea in 14k yg, so I think I might indulge in a set of 3 :) one polished, one matte, and one hammered... I also don't think I'll indulge in the 'midi' thing.

Laurie, Madelise...you two are killing me!!! I am imagining Madelise's ultra-thin bands in 24K...and just seeing the Carolyn Tyler bands has me frothing at the mouth like my Newfoundland (not a pretty sight...you wouldn't want to see it on me).

Hugs all around,

Wow that necklace is pretty unbelievable. When do you wear it? I can see that the gold cuff could be worn more often. Casually fabulous. What is it about yellow gold that can evoke such emotions? I often get warm and fuzzies with yellow gold. :). If you have a pic the Paloma Picasso earrings on that would be great. I think that on, it's even more gorgeous.

You know what? The last time I wore it, to dinner at my next door neighbors' house in Virginia, no one noticed I had it on until we were halfway through the meal. (There were only four of us there. It was right before Christmas last year: 2013. I was in casual, but somewhat elegant, black clothing and had decided to throw on some gold jewelry to brighten up what I was wearing.) I am always cold, however, so I was probably swathed in layers as usual. Someone eventually noticed the necklace poking out of the folds. I don't think my friends had ever seen the necklace before because it ended up being a conversation piece. We were eating in the kitchen and my friend's husband, who is very mechanical and technical, wanted to know if the necklace was made of tiny beads. My friend said it was woven. I took it off before dinner was over and passed it to him across the table so that he could examine it. (We are those kind of friends.) Before he gave it back to me he had taken out all kinds of miniscule knots that had formed in it that no jeweler had ever volunteered to deal with! If you hadn't asked that question, I wouldn't have remembered the story. They are the most wonderful neighbors. I miss them terribly now that I live in Connecticut. He is a retired Xerox executive and she was my best friend in the world when I lived in Virginia!

Deb, I love those stories. I hope your necklace is not in knots again. :) I can totally see that necklace going with black. You've inspired me to take a peek into Tiffany this weekend. I am going to the Tiffany site, right now. ;)

Yssie, so where and when would you wear these super fabulous to-be-yours-amazing-VCAs? I'm new to this earring thing, and those earrings of yours would be super fabulous. I'm kinda seeing them on you at a casual lunch at some super chic outdoor cafe.

Yssie, I'm going to have to consult with you soon as I am very tempted by these beautiful Cartier and VCA pieces. I would like to buy one beautiful yellow gold necklace, and one pair of gorgeous gold earrings. I would wear the gold earrings when I have on my diamond pendant, and wear the gold necklace when I am wearing the diamond studs.

Can I just post some more super cute stuff I tried at VCA?

image_1612.jpg

image_1610.jpg

And I finally found a Trinity ring I liked. This is a save up for piece, after I get all my basics.

image_1613.jpg

Oh, let's see...I love the Cartier BB, the VCA Alhambra pieces (probably would only pay for the Sweet Alhambra, though!), some South Sea pearl earrings...

If I were to start collecting yellow gold, I love Elizabeth Locke, Carolyn Tyler, and Temple St Clair. Just haven't made that leap yet since I still have some white metal things I want.

Moonstones. There is a piece on ebay I WANT. Oh well.

Hey LS... :wavey:

how about a plain 3.45mm 24K gold band? I bought some 24K gold for scrap when spot gold was $1400 per oz, and this ring was part of the deal.I have been waiting for gold to go back up to $1400 so I can get rid of it.

Oh Woofmama I love my Roadster! Best watch ever....too bad Cartier doesn't make them anymore :nono:

It seems Cartier is on all our mind  On my wishlist for the last year or so is another Cartier Love. I have the WG version with diamonds but now I want a RG version plain to stack. Their RG is just out of this world in beauty!

I have the Roadster on my wish list for 2015! I do look for them and have found quite a few preloved so hope I can get one.
It's my favorite Cartier watch by far.
I also love the Love bracelet. Hope you can get RG!

I have recently seen a pair of earrings I love. They are mesh and derivative of Paloma Picasso's gold mesh earrings (which I have in every size). Nonetheless, they are slightly different. I have no idea what they cost, but I wish I owned a pair. I will look for a photo of them!

I finally found these by going through the history on my own computer! They are ridiculously hard to find via search engines! I have more gold mesh jewelry than you can shake a stick at, but I always covet pieces that look special. I don't know how these would feel in person; often I am disappointed by the "feel" of mesh. But they look really interesting, and not as if they are supposed to feel silky. (Pieces that look as if they should feel silky, but do not do are the ones that disappoint me most. I avoid them at all cost!)

Yeah, Madelise, these are gorgeous bands. I think you can do them in high carat yellow. Just be prepared for them to get banged up and deformed. I am used to certain of my pieces being banged out of shape. I just reshape them with a squeeze here and there. Your bands look beautiful on your commercial worthy hands.

Madelise, You can do the bands in 24K. I have some Gurhan rings in 24K that are not wide at all. No problem for me. Thought I'd photograph some super, super thin bands I have since you like really thin. These are the Sheldon Speyer mini-mania bands. Only one is yellow gold and they are "only" 18K. Three are ruby. The yellow gold one is yellow sapphires. One is diamond or white sapphires.

Madelise, this photo shows how thin the bands are. The other photo really does not. I was posting these photos for you since you were the person who was interested in ultra-thin bands. By the way, if you-or anyone else-happens to like these particular bands Peter Suchy in Stamford used to have some long after Sheldon Speyer stopped making them. I have no idea if he still does. I am sure that many jewelry makers manufacture similar rings, however.

Deb, love your story about the necklace. I can also see it with black -- must have been stunning. You've made me wish I had one!

MissKittyCat -- there's no such thing as only amethysts! They're beautiful in their own right -- one of my favorite stones & fortunately, underpriced because underappreciated, but that will change as all things do. I'm buying them now -- wish I could have done the same with tsavs. The Tiff earrings are beautiful, can't blame you for loving them. My only other thought is that you could get them made for a third to a half the price -- but then you have to go through the hassle. Go for it while they're there!

--- Laurie

P.S. Deb, Peter Suchy is a familiar name -- hadn't thought about that store in years. It was a good one!

Here's something I craved for a long time, but the price was waaayyy high. It's vintage Russian, but not Fabergé, for pete's sake. Sold now anyway.

PS: those VCA items are darling! Also, in another thread, someone posted a gold necklace from (orchid collection) Cartier--it was so sweet. Those branded items will be the death of my son's inheritance! :halo:
