I'm thinking of having a rolling ring made. I've seen the Cartier model with seven bands, but I'd like eight bands for sentimental reasons. If possible two of them with pavé.

Is it possible to have one made with eight? Do I remember right that DK does rolling rings? Anyone else you'd recommend?

No expert, but I know dk does them!

That is a "flash from the past"... you don't see them a lot now and they are really cool! To have with pave' would be amazing. Do you think 8 will "roll" as well? I've only seen them with 3. Would love to see what you create!

I have two Cartier Trinity rings - one with seven bands (now discontinued) and one with three bands. Each band on both rings is the same width, ~1.8mm. I find that the seven-band version rolls more fluidly than the three-band ::)

IMO pave is really, really not a good idea with these rings. I know Cartier and other houses offer pave rolling designs and I can’t fathom why! By design these bands will constantly rub on each other, and pave will chew up the bands (plain and pave). If stones are a non-negotiable Must Have, channel bands will be least damaging.

I didn't know that the bands on the seven band one are the same width. Good to know!

I used to wear the skinny version (my mom's), but it's not substantial enough. I quite like the look of their extra wide one and the seven band one. I also know there's the version with the burnished set diamonds - that should be safe to wear. I haven't made up my mind re. pavé. Has anyone got one and can attest to damage /wear?
I see them a lot as wedding rings and even the plain ones are very very scratched up if worn as wedding rings 24/7.

I think I'll have to think about this some more...

Little late but I just recently revived the rolling ring I had made. It’s is plain metal, three ring version. I thought a rolling band would look smashing with my big bezeled OMC.

I havn't seen rings like this since the '80's
We called the 3 band ones Russian wedding rings
they used to advertise them on tv when 'tv shops' first became a thing here

and i do appreate a wider band

I grew up with them called Russian bands as well. I guess Cartier is what drove the name change to rolling bands.

You were right! It does look smashing!

I just had this custom made and received it two days ago. It’s similar to Cartier trinity but the band width is 3mm each because I wanted wider bands for index finger. I hope these channel setting won’t be scratched up too much, probably wouldn’t recommend pave.

Just lovely - so classic!

I'm sharing a photo of my Cartier trinity ring. Size 5 (my normal ring size is 4.5-4.75). I love it and wear it very often. In my opinion it has a great presence on the hand and looks substantial and impressive. I always thought that it was worth buying!
Please excuse my very dry hands!

This is beautiful on you Naty!

Perfect timing as I have asked for one for Mother’s Day in March. We are the same finger size so can I ask what is the European size you got? Is it a 49?

Hello @susimoo ! Thank you so much for the kind words! Yes, it is a size 49 and it's very comfortable on my finger!

Thank you. This is very helpful as I do not have a boutique in my country (Scotland) and even if I did because we are on lockdown I wouldn’t be allowed to travel to it anyway!:wall:

:wavey:

I wear one in my right hand sometimes and I found sizing up to look most flattering. Because all the bands are dome tops, tightness emphasizes the muffin top on my fingers. So I sized up by a quarter size.
