Oy. My head hurts. If you have some extra time, I sure would appreciate the help.

I am trying to find a pair of 5mm round blue sapphires (heat is fine) for martini studs. Total budget is $800 (with an eensy bit of wiggle room). I talked to David Klass and ID Jewelry and it looks like the a standard martini setting will run $150, so $650 for the stones. Is that even do-able?? I would certainly take already-set studs, but haven't had any luck on preloved, Ebay, etc.

Thanks!

Yup, already did. She has a set of 5.5mm Ceylon, but at $1000, unset.

I'm thinking my budget is unrealistic--maybe need to extend it to $1000??

What do you think about getting a smaller size (4-4.5mm) and bezeling them? These are to go in ID Jewelry 3 pointer, 5mm jackets...

Try Sally at Heart of water. She can source loose stones, and has a good supply of sapphires

Thanks, I'll contact her as well :)

Rogerio Graca of Pristine Gemstones usually has matched pairs as reasonable prices. His etsy shop shows he is on vacation through June 19th, so you can't see what he has on there till he is back, but I would email him to see what he has. I have found him to be very responsive, kind and helpful with offering what was best for my project needs.

I would second arkieb's suggestion of Jeff Davies. He has a great selection of stones in calibrated sizes and at very reasonable prices.

ww.gemartservices.com Jerry Newman appears to have some. You need to contact him and ask about them. Within your price range. But he just lists that he has them, his website does not show them.

Second the Jeff Davis idea.

Scarcity of sapphire pairs right now. :o

Thanks for all the suggestions! I am checking all leads

Good luck in finding a great pair. I second contacting Jeff Davies. I assume he can cut something for you. Also, you could contact Doug Menadue from Bespoke gems (Australia) and see what he can do within your budget. His prices are very reasonable and the conversion rate from Australian dollar to USD is good.
