FI and his mom have different last names, his dad isn''t in the picture and his stepdad is more like his dad.

So our invitations said...

blah blah blah...

wedding of

Blair to

FI middle name last name

Son of

Mr & mrs FI''s stepdad last name...

We got a regret with a check (how nice!) made out to Mr & mrs. Fi''s stepdad last name..

TOTALLY didn''t see this as a problem and I am worried that others will do the same EVEN THOUGH FI''s last name is on the invite and on our map that says "rooms available under the mylastname/FI''slastname block"

I could always give my checks to his mom but I''m not comfortable with that for other reasons...

Did anyone have this problem and what did you do???

Oh and I went to deposit the check and the bank gave me a hard time but did it because "it was only $50"

I can see this happening, as my mom is going to remarry before my invites go out. However, the whole money thing will not be an issue for us. I have no idea how to remedy it either

Hope it doesn''t happen again or very often at least!

We had this happen with one of ours, and we just wrote in FI''s last name after the end of the name written on the name line (as in, let''s say fi''s name was "Mike Jones, and his parents'' last name was Smith. The check was written to "Mike Smith" so we added "jones" onto the end of the "Mike Smith"). Probably not legal, but since they wrote the check to us in the first place, what are the odds that they would dispute it later, you know?

Good idea Doodle!

The bank teller had me sign the back "Mr & Mrs parentlastname"...which I don''t really think was legal either...whatever!

They gave you a hard time because it''s made out to someone completely different. I understand the frustration since it''s for you, but the bank has no way of knowing that. They have you endorse the check the way it''s made out to show that it wasn''t just some random person who found the check and is then trying to cash it.
If that does happen again, I would just do what doodle did, it will probably make it a lot easier(just try to make it look like the handwriting that''s on the check
