My FI and I are getting married in the Lehigh Valley and it is so hard to find florists, bakers, dress shops, etc here! I have looked on the Knot.com or Brides.com and even when I put in the LV, all I get are stores near King of Prussia or Philly. Anyone from here know of places to get dresses besides David''s Bridal or cake bakers? I am not opposed to traveling to Philly, but being that the wedding is a year and a half away, I would like to start locally for now. Or any resources/web sites for LV weddings?

Hi Blueyes! I''m from the LV!

Currently living in NYC. What''s the name of your venue? I know Phoebe Flowers is supposed to be really good in the area. One of my best friends got married at the Hotel Bethlehem - not sure who she used (I think the hotel recommended the florist).

As far as dress shops go, I''ve never thought to look in Allentown or the LV since I wanted a Vera Wang dress and none of the shops in the area carried her. Plus, living in New York I have all the designers right here in the city. Try Anne Bailey''s Anne Baileys in Fountainville, PA which carries designer gowns (my friend got an Amsale dress from there) Also, I went to Suky in Ardmore, PA Suky Rosan with my mom which also has a large selection of designer gowns (including Vera Wang).

Thanks BlushingBride! As of now we are getting married at the Bank St Annex in Easton. We are having a tasting and a final walk through next Friday and that will be our determining factor. We loved the Hotel Bethlehem, but my FI did not like having the whole place for "us". With the Bank St Annex we get the whole building, it is soooo romantic! It is an old bank building from the 20''s.

It is just hard to find Bridal places with designer dresses, which is crazy for the Lehigh Valley being so big! I love the Vera Wang dresses, Nicole Miller, Moniquie L''Huiller, Maggie Sottero and Watters... no shops seem to carry them around here.

I will check out those sites! Thanks

Hi Blueeyes!

I grew up in LV! My sister bought her dress and got her cake locally even though she got married in NYC. Her baker was

Viennese Pastries Café in Bethlehem. I remember the cake being delicious and beautiful and my sister said that their service was great! They delivered the cake to NYC for her! And I remembered her saying the price was resonable.

As for her dress, besides DB's I know there were other stores that we visited that had a huge selection of dresses. At the time I was not thinking about weddings at all, so I don't remember if the selection was high end designer or what but I do remember there being a TON of dresses. I can't remember the name of the stores now, but I will try and see if my sister remembers. She got married 6 years ago though!

but randomly googling came up with this site that had a list of preferred vendors...Viennese is listed! Maybe this can give you a starting point. good luck! http://www.meritagecatering.com/event_planning/vendors.asp

Your potential venue sounds beautiful!

Yeah, unfortunately the LV does not have a major selection of designer gowns. It might be fun for you to hop on the Bieber bus to NYC for the day and go to Kleinfeld''s, etc. LV is so close to NYC it would be hard not to take advantage!

It''s ironic you mentioned LV today - my DH and I are headed to LV tonight as we are heading to Penn State this weekend for a football game and will be passing through!

Good luck!

Did you go to Penn State? My FI and are actually PSU alumni! We went up to State College last weekend for the Ohio State game.
