Hi ladies -- has anyone heard of or bought Stephi Stewart''s "Fire Your Wedding Planner" e-book? She has published a book which you can download that apparently gives all these wonderful money-saving tips on planning a wedding. I''m wondering if it''s all hype, or if it''s really worthwhile...

here''s a link to some of her stuff:

Mas, stick around this forum long enough and you will find out all you ever needed to know for free! I haven''t heard of that e-book, but there are countless publications on that very topic. For my husband and I, saving money was all about "networking" within our families and friends...a lady who works with my husband made our cake for $100 (served 120 people and was gorgeous), my aunt who is a rubber stamp enthusiast made our invitations, and you would never have known they were homemade, and our "videographer" was my 2nd cousin who was a whiz at digital photography. We also had our wedding on a Sunday at a fabulous location we could not have afforded on a Saturday. My mother made our centerpieces, and we saved money on flowers also by having the ceremony right outside the reception site--the outdoors require minimal decor during the warm months here in Chicago! There are all kinds of ways you can think of to cut corners, and many ideas you can get from web pages or forums like this. IMO, I wouldn''t spend money on an e-book if I was trying to save in the first place. Hope this helps!

Hi Monarch! I live in Chicago too! any lessons you learned about doing things in the city here, I''d love to here about (feel free to private message me) I would love to get married downtown if possible...

Hi Mas, I just PM''d you. BTW, re. your post about having work done on your grandmother''s jewelry, I am going to see the jeweler I recommended to you tomorrow afternoon...would you like me to ask him any specific questions as far as the work you need done?

Hi Monarch -- I think I''ll need to bring the jewelry in for him to see -- the one earring broke in a weird place that''s kind of hard to describe. thanks for the offer though!

I didn''t buy the book, but did sign up for the email list. You''re sent at least one email a day (kinda excessive in my opinion!) Some of the info is helpful, some is common sense.

Mas--my friend ordered this book and then sent me a link to it for downloading. So I''ve read most of it--and most of it I read within 2 months of getting engaged so it filled my head right away with ideas for how to cut costs. I''m sure at least one of the suggestions will save you enough $$ to pay for the cost of the book (I think it was under $20 but I didn''t buy it).
