Those are some cool designs Novel! Thanks for the link.

I know it''s a little different to what Alj was describing, but from that post I immediately thought of Facetfire''s Michael Bondanza - I''ve loved this ring since I joined PS, and I plan to own one someday

SCG, not sure if it''s your thing but I think this would look fabulous with your sapph - plus it''s kinda a meld together of prongs, halo and bezel imho..
link with plenty pics

Oooh, I love that Michael Bondanza! Stepcut, are we just making this more confusing? Do you live somewhere where you could see a bunch of things on your finger with sapphs?

I love that ting AJ! I have admired it for a long long time, but it seems a little out of my price range. I have emailed to find out if it can be made with another metal to reduce the cost, but I believe that designer only uses platinum.

Novel-No to both! Not many stores around here and I''m not sure anyone could make this decision any harder!

Really pretty ring, AJ! I don''t remember seeing that one before. SCG, maybe you could use it as an inspiration and have something similar made?

Yeah, that is a possibility. I think I''m taking a break though. Even settings I love I am feeling meh about right now. I think I''ve been obsessing over it too much and it''s lost it''s happy factor.

That michael bondanza ring is my favourite on PS. IIRC she paired it with a bezel eternity. That, or a single prong eternity, with either the sholdt or that gorgeous michael bondanza would be my dream combo.

I could be wrong, but I thought Alison meant something like below. (Please excuse the 60 second paint mock-up, I don''t have Photoshop on my laptop!) Pretend the white dots are diamond melee.
That''s precisely what I meant, E B.

It still captures the half-round bezel vibe but adds a bit of sparkle.

I envy your mad photoshop skills!

Freke or anyone out there feel like photo shopping for me? This setting with my stone. Pretty please? This is a diamond version of my fav plain Sholdt.

ETA-this is the only picture I can find of it (well actually D&T found this). The only other pic I've seen was a huge one on their site.

sholdtbezel918111.jpg

Have you found any straight on (at least more so than that pic) of it?

LMAO. I just google imaged "Sholdt" and MY SHOE CAME UP.

There is a better pic on their site, though it looks huge and bulky there, but you can't highlight images on their site!

Your shoe? What the heck?!

ETA-can you do the setting at the top of the page too? I have asked about some custom prices on it, the original is out of my league.

Darn you. Being demanding.

I''ll look into it.

But but but you''re my photo shop hero!

You know what...I''m not sure you need to photo shop those. I know a sapphire will look very nice with both of those. I think my mind is just refusing to let it go for a little bit. I need a break from my setting obsessing.

Lol. Well you''re getting Facetfire''s, because I already started. It will be missing prongs though...

Otay!

(I have to say that I think this one might be my favorite...)

I agree, that looks awesome Freke.

SCG, this is definitely my favourite so far (and I mean *for you*, not just because I love it too).
I like the idea of using it as inspiration if you can''t spring for the M.Bondanza, perhaps having BG make a modified version in gold..?

I hear what you''re saying though about wanting to step back - I think that sounds like a good idea, otherwise we become at risk of just making a decision to have it done, kwim?
I know you''ve been waiting a while, but no harm in thinking on it a bit longer

I''m very glad you brought up this ring AJ. I have really liked it for along time but don''t like the diamonds all around and wasn''t thinking I wanted prongs. Seeing you bring it up again and then seeing it photo shopped perked up my interest in it. I have sent out an email to a few vendors for prices and explaining how I would want it modified. It may even work as a bezel and be something along the lines of what Allison D was suggesting.

I''d be interested in seeing that Sholdt setting too, but I''m really loving this. I feel like I need to get it done but I don''t (as you said) want to get it done just to do it.

BF won''t propose w/o a ring and if I suggested a temp setting I think his response would be something like this.

I''m glad to hear you''re fond of it step - admittedly it''s difficult not to love facet''s ring and it''s one of my all-time faves. If I remember correctly, close to when I joined I contacted Bondanza and they definitely will work in gold, he just prefers plat.
If you go to Pearlman''s site you can see some of his work in YG, for example.

I think the idea of modifying it, like with the earlier mock up, is a very good one and if you contact a vendor with a good imagination I think this could work out as exactly what you''re after - I hope you get back some favourable quotes and feedback, fingers crossed!
Personally I love all the details of the original, but I can see how certain aspects you would want changed, considering your preferences you have mentioned
1.gif

ah, I see your dilemma from what you''ve described re. the engagement without a ring thing. Now I understand, I would likely be feeling pretty urgent to get it happening too, and be wearing that lovely sapph
2.gif

Well let us know how it goes,
aj.

I's imagine his gold even is way more than I'm wanting to spend. All of the vendors I emailed about this work in palladium though and even though it seems most people don't want palladium, after asking lots of questions and talking to vendors about it, I feel comfortable about getting palladium. It's also less expensive than gold.

I think this ring is a perfect combo of a little glitter from just a few diamonds paired with sleek smooth fluid metal that I like about the Sholdts.

I think or the other Sholdt listed above could really be it. Neither of them make me feel panicky...at least not yet.

That''s getting close to what I''m thinking, but I personally still think the diamonds need to be up flush with the girdle of the sapphire instead of lower.

Halo.

I think the semi bezel you like is very nice, but for a diamond.
Ditto Pink Tower - I love the sholdt, but for the sapphire, I REALLY love the diamond halo and the plain shank!

stepcutgirl - the ring I just made a thread for is palladium... I think it looks beautiful :) I also felt pretty confident with going with palladium :)

This is a random question, but when removing a stone from a semi bezel, does either the stone or the ring have to get, well, destroyed to preserve one or the other?

Allison-You may want to mention that to Chris. I have sent him an email.

violet-You, me and halos go way back at this point! LOL. I still am strongly considering one and all my quote requests on those came back in the clear.
3.gif

Deia-I love your new ring! I think it is so pretty and if I had a lighter stone I''d love a setting like that. I have noticed palladium is not favored much but many designers now use it and I asked designers and different vendors for their opinions on it and several surprised me by telling me they prefered it to platinum in appearance over time. Granted no pieces of palladium have been around long enough to tell us how they will hold up over a long period of time.

Freke-I don''t know for sure but I believe you do have to sacrifice one or the other. I''m not sure that would apply with a semi bezel though???
