Looking back in retrospect - I wasn''t looking for anything in particular and I didn''t have a type. But now that I have met so many different people and have been with my bf for so long, I actually would look for different characteristics and personality traits. What I find sexy or attractive now isn''t necessarily all of his qualities...

Number one appealing trait: sense of humor. It trumps everything else. The guy can be a troll (well, sort of), but he must have a sense of humor. The smart, and very often smart-butt kind of humor is my preference.

Number two: kindness. It will show in their face, in the way they interact with others, the way they treat you. Not just courtesy. Kindness.


Number three: a sense of confidence . . . in themselves, in their choices, in who they are down deep.


Number four: Looks. Doesn''t have to classical good looks; no need for killer abs. But they must be clean, neat, groomed, not overly hairy, smell of soap or great cologne, visit the dentist regularly, and dress decently.


Now, if you''re talking celebrity guys . . . Hugh Jackman quite possibly IS the Sexiest Man Alive.

Manners and open-mindedness have already been mentioned but they are the biggest ones for me. Smart guys who can think for themselves and don''t judge people are great. Also, guys who don''t feel the need to be macho and prove their manhood.

I''m 5''9" and I like tall guys, and no one who is skinnier than me. I don''t want some rock hard doofus either, a little belly is alright as long as he''s generally healthy. I love working out but I LOVE eating too and I want a guy who likes to eat as well!

Intelligence is the number one thing. I would like to think of myself as an intelligent person and if I couldn''t hold a conversation someone, it wouldn''t work.

I like a guy with patience and the willingness to listen.

I noticed everyone has been saying sense of humor and I suppose I would agree, but I have a very dorky sense of humor so I guess I like a guy that has a sense of humor and gets my sense of humor.

Believe it or not, I''m a shy person. I get nervous and even though I end up making friends, I feel like the kid in kindergarten when I first meet someone. Thus, I tend to like more outgoing and confident guys. Nate was the boldest guy I''ve ever dated. Of course he had already graduated from med school when I met him, so he was very mature.

And then, I have to say I like a bad boy. Not like committing illegal activities kind of bad boy, but maybe a guy with a little wild streak. I''m weird, I know.

On to appearance.

I suppose the main thing is that he shower and brush his teeth regularly. Anything more than that is just like extra, lol. I prefer my guy tall. I would say I prefer darker hair. I like a guy that eats well and is fit, but I don''t like muscle bulging from every which a way. Veins are not sexy!

I also like southern boys.

I love a cocky guy. Not quite arrogant, but cocky, with a good sense of humour. I like guys right at that point just after an acceptable level of confidence. HUGE turn on in my book.

I like athletic guys. I love smart guys. If a guy can kick a soccer ball and make his way through Descartes or Levi-Strauss, or hold an involved conversation on various world religions, I''m in love.

I love a guy with great work ethic. Somebody that''ll do their best until the job is done. Sticktoitiveness. LOVE IT.

I also like a man with expressive eyes like my husband''s. He has kind eyes with creases around them from smiling with his eyes. My husband hasn''t cried since he was a child, but it doesn''t matter because he says everything with his eyes.

I find strong men sexy, and I don’t mean physically. One of the things I love about FI is his ability to carry everyone else. When we’re all stressed out, he’s the voice of reason. When things fall apart, he puts the pieces back together. He’s very calm and level headed. I love that!

I also have a thing for shoulders and my FI has the greatest shoulders!

In terms of personality, intelligence and humour are a must. I am not even attracted to someone until they can make me laugh. Seriously. A guy could be the (physically) sexiest guy alive, and I wouldn''t think twice about him if he couldn''t make me laugh. I also like it when they are able to tease me and not cross the line into being offensive- I love being teased and teasing back!

Physically, being strong- I love SO''s arms, legs, shoulders because they feel and look so strong. I mean, he is not a bodybuilder or anything, he just looks fit and strong. I also like watching how his body moves for the same reason. I don''t tell him that enough. I should.

ooh you''ve just described what I find very sexy. I just love a man with big brown eyes and I''m incredibly attracted to a guy who I feel is strong and can take care of us, not in a financial way but more in a way when he puts his arm around me that he''s watching out for me. Also one thing that I find incredibly attractive is when a man is nice to animals. Whenever we get a man in the clinic, all of nurses and vets (women mind you!), love it when you see a man petting his dog or cat and just being kind to them-very sexy!

Ditto for me too! Especially the highlighted part. My hubby always jokes about his thick skin thanks to me. I must be able to have my own opinion.

As far as looks go I need a strong jawline and a strong nose. I tend to like Greek or Roman looking men with sharp features. He must be fit...And over 6'' is a plus! Lucky for me, DH fits the bill!

Since I haven't figured out to quote and/or highlight others' posts, I will just ditto what a lot of you all have already said:

1. Confidence. I love a guy with confidence. No wussy guys for me. If I can walk all over you, you're dirt.
2. Intelligence. I have a Graduate Degree and although my man doesn't, he is still the most intelligent man I have ever met. I love a good intellectual debate and I love someone with some good common sense.
3. Skill. Be it technical, mechanical, whatever. If you've got skill, you're mine. My man can play guitar, fix most anything in my house or garage, and make me purr like a kitten elsewhere...he's got MAD skills!

4. Sense of humor. I love a man who can make me laugh. My hubby's sense of humor is a bit dry and sometimes it takes people a few minutes to get it, but he makes me roar with laughter all day long. I love that!
5. Looks. Like others have said. You don't have to be Brad Pitt (although it doesn't hurt

) but if you're well-groomed, well-dressed and know how to carry yourself, that speaks more to me than your eye color, hair color, height, weight, etc. Plus, once you add that #1 factor in (Confidence) - it's pretty much a done deal.
6. Kindness. Towards other human beings, animals, insects, etc. I love a man who is kind and gentle.
