Hi gals, I need your help on deciding which pair of earrings to keep. Both are from Costco.

Pair one has 0.36ct diamonds, and a pair of 5mm aquamarines in pentagon shaped halos. The diamonds are very sparkly and white, close to WhiteFlash quality.

I like this pair because the dangling halos are completely removable and I have several pairs of color stones I plan to mount as earring charms so this is the perfect base.

The cons:
- the aquas are light blue with gray
- it looks similar to several pairs of earrings I already have

(sorry about the picture quality - my first time ever taking pictures in mirror)

The second pair has 0.56ct diamonds and pear shaped aquamarines are much larger (about 6x8mm each). It is definitely more dressy looking.

Pros:
- I don''t have anything this shape and I like the pear drops.
- Price is better. This cost only $30 more than the other pair, with 0.20ct extra diamonds.

Cons:
- aquamarines are pale too (I am spoiled by my BB aqua)
- diamonds are not as sparkly as the first pair

Which pair shall I keep?

Both are pretty but I like the pear shape better.

I like the first.

They have different look its really tough to have to choose. I will go for the first one if I am wearing it with casual outfit. l will go for the pear if I am dressed up for events.

Neither? I prefer the first by a wide margin but if you have that many that are similar, there''s no point in getting another.

First, since the diamond quality is better.

I like the first pair because of their versatility.

neither

I''d keep the cheaper pair because I think they''re both equally pleasing to the eye, and the aquas are the same quality/size from what I can see. If the diamonds really bug you in the second one, as you said, they''re not as sparkley, that might also be a consideration.

I have 4 kids, and I can''t believe I don''t already have a Costco membership, lol.

You know, it sounds like whichever pair you get, you''d be settling for something you don''t love 100%, and given that, I''d probably wait.

Personally, I think the second pair is more elegant, but if both the diamond and aqua quality is bleh, then I''m not sure the design of the earring is enough to make up for it.

For the first pair, I like the ability to switch out the charms, and I''d consider getting them IF the price was right for just the hoops. Are the aquas in those charms bezel or prong set? If prong set, then you could always switch out the stones.

ditto.

ps the first one can be worn with jeans or with a dressy outfit. the 2nd one is for dress up only, imo.

I LOVE the 2nd pair, but the 1st pair is more practical! Buy them both!

I love the second pair. Very classy and modern looking. Do they have another pair that you could look at perhaps with better diamonds?

I do like the versatility of the first pair but not the overall design as much.

marcy, TravelingGal, chictomato, Chrono, IndyLady, LTG, VapidLapid, TL, cellentani, MZ, AprilBaby, LovingDiamonds, thanks for all the feedback!

I actually like both pairs but don't want to end up keeping both. Since Costco has a 'indefinite' return policy, I will take my time to think about it. There is nothing wrong with the diamonds on the second pair, but because they were bezeled they appear to be less sparkly at melee size.

I showed both pairs to my friends and got split opinions too. :naughty: The second pair look nice with dresses, pair one goes great with almost everything.

I thought about keeping both pairs and swap out the aqua in the first pair with my own color stones. But at $600 I have to think twice about getting that 'setting'.

Here is two more pictures, showing both pairs. Pair one first.

The second pair - I am still torn!

More opinions, please...

Now that I see both up close, I definitely like the second pair better. They're more elegant, and remind me a bit of Tiffany & Co styling. The top pair reminds me of those interchangeable earrings you see everywhere, and definitely not as refined to me.

I honestly don't see why you couldn't wear the second pair with more casual clothes. They are more dressy, but I think they would be nice with anything.

TL, thanks for your quick response! Your opinion means a lot to me and I totally agree with your assessment of both pairs. Now I am strongly leaning towards the second pair. =)

Can I change my mind too? The pear pair has better diamonds and better aquamarines. I can see the difference in your latest close up shots.

I know my opinion doesn't count, but I am loving the first ones right off the bat..

says who? of course your opinion counts and I truly appreciate it!

Pears! I love that design. Now if you could only get your mitts on Catmom's necklace to wear them with....
