hello everybody!
I am new on pricescope and am wondering if there are other people from Switzerland (or Germany/Austria) in this forum???
I guess that most of the members here are from the US... and I think that the attitude towards huge engagement rings or lots of jewellery in general is slightly different in Europe. I don''t see many women here in Switzerland wearing big e-rings and it seems that they do generally not wear much jewellery on a daily basis. That might have to do with the Swiss mentality of understatement...
Other than most Swiss women of my age, I am really addicted to jewellery, especially to rings.

For an e-ring I would be looking for something around 3ct. - but my friends (they do not share my jewellery addiction

) think this is a bit over the top.
So, I am looking for other European PSers willing to share their opinions and experience with me...

Welcome!

We do have a Swiss PSer, but she doesn''t seem to post regularly, but she may pop in and see this. I am from the UK, there are a few of us here and from Ireland. I wear a 3.4 ct round and in the UK big diamonds are unheard of really, especially where I live. But I wear what pleases me and don''t worry about what others think! Folk around here probably think my stone is a fake, but that doesn''t bother me at all if they do.

I live in Ireland and have a 1.23ct and I''ve gotten quite a few comments about the size of my ring. I think it''s perfect size though. You should get what you like, your friends aren''t the one wearing it.

Hey Lorelei
Thank you for answering. Some British people I know mentioned that other than in Switzerland, in the UK there are many young ladies wearing huge stones and lots of bling also during the day. But I guess that is (like everywhere) depending on the social surroundings you live in...
I do not really care what other people think about my jewellery. And I think it is nicer to wear what you really like instead of having any pressure from your environment. The good thing is that when we finally decide to get engaged, there is really no pressure to "keep up" with other people in our environment regarding the size of our ring

.
Anyway, on a regular basis I wear smaller pieces of jewellery like simple diamond and pearl studs and one or two rings. But for special occasions, I really love to dress up and to wear larger pieces of jewellery with diamonds or matching colored stones. Unfortunately jewellery prices are much higher here in Switzerland compared to the US!

Hi bee
Thanks for your post. Don''t worry, I do not care about the opinion of others. But I am curious if there are other PSers from Europe here. Maybe I am completely wrong and there are many European ladies here sharing my addiction for diamonds

Others I can think of are
Delster and Steel -both Irish
Chocolatefudge-UK
Maisie-UK

Can''t think of anymore at the moment!

Hi Ms.Dreamy and welcome!

To answer your question, I think Glueck is Swiss?

Po and MrsMitchell are Scottish if I recall correctly. Do a quick search for 'Europe' or 'Swiss' or 'Germany' and see who crops up!

Do you have any pictures of your dream ring? We'd love to ogle along with you!

Pyramid and Po, Mrs Mitchell from Scotland I think.

Hey Ms Dreamy - welcome.

You''ll find lots of people will be more than willing to share their experiences and advice whether is a 0.10ct - 10.0ct diamond.

So what cut/clarity of diamond are you looking for?

hey Delster
thanks! I haven''t found my absolute "dream ring" yet... but I will have to wait for it for a long time anyway, as we have no serious plan on getting engaged in the near future. Maybe in 2 years or so... I don''t know. But my BF knows about my love for nice jewellery and I am sure that when the time comes he will suprise me with a wondeful ring... (or at least I hope he will

I like e-rings with one large center stone and two small stones on each side. For an e-ring i would prefer a round, oval or maybe cushion center stone. I really love fancy shapes like pears or hearts and think they would be lovely side stones for my ring...

I like asscher and emerald cuts too - but not for an e-ring to wear it every day. The same thing for halo-settings: they look great, but for my e-ring I would prefer a more "simple" setting so that the center stone really stands out.

But during the time I have to wait for my dream ring, I am planning to collect a few nice stacking bands. I might wear them later with my e-ring as well. For this reason I would prefer an e-ring with a thin band so that I could stack the wedding band and other eternity bands with it
