I could never figure out why gas is so expensive in the SF Bay Area, especially since we have refineries right here in Martinez?
i think because,CA law requires some kind of additive in the gas

OMG, don''t even get me started, I feel it everytime.
29.gif
We pay $2.59-$2.89 here in my town, and 45 miles away at costco is where I save the most at $2.39-$2.69/gal. Go figure.
20.gif
So Feydakin, like your wife, I get a thrill everytime I can save .30/gal when I go there. Doesn''t always work out but hey, a girl''s gotta try anyway.

Anyone want to discuss the price of a gallon of milk here?

K-MOM
but don''t forget, with a full tank of gas you can take a couple of laps around teh island and still have 1/2 tank of gas left.
9.gif
DF dear, have you forgotten I live on THE BIG ISLAND?????
9.gif
We can fit all the islands combined on this one.
20.gif
One lap is about 400 miles. There goes my tank of gas. LOL. But if I plan right to start and end at Costco, I can get the cheapest fill, then drive the last 45 miles home.

Love the new Dodge Ram with the "Hemi"....except when I go to the gas station! Then, I wonder what the hell we were thinking!? Money out of my diamond ring fund...

I take the train to work!

For you Californians wondering why your prices are so high. California has several different grades of gasoline which are separate from Reg, Mid and Prem in the rest of the country, even though it may say Reg, Mid, and Prem. It actually raises the cost of all gas since instead of just 3 types they have to make 8 or so and sell 5 to CA only. If only 3 were made, then the extra productivity would be plenty for all grades to keep the price down. I do not know about the taxes on gas in CA, but I imagine they have some.

Within the last 5-6 years the price of fuel in Melbourne has almost doubled.

Then there''s the rest of the price rises over here recently

now it''s up to $2.43 a gal for low grade

in No. Cal

Hey! gasoline here is about $5.20 per US gallon so I cant understand what you are all complaining about
9.gif

Hands down, when you''re paying by the liter...you''re paying a lot more for gas! $5+ a gallon...ouch.

DF, $2.43...is still low around me...we''re around $2.50, and I saw a place in Burlingame for $2.65 (for the low grade stuff!!) last night. Why weren''t there any hybrids when I bought my car??!!!
38.gif
Thank God I''m not driving a hummer...at 8mpg...it''d be like paying another rent!

I paid 2.15 yesterday. (I still think it''s high)
6.gif

I guess I shouldn''t complain. I just don''t drive as much.

I just paid $2.40 9/10 this morning! OUCH!! Thank goodness I don''t have much of a commute!

Wow... High prices... My Little Jetta gets pretty good mileage, but 1.91 still hurts here in NC.

Gas prices are not what is high.. isn''t it the god-awful taxes they charge.. I mean 90 Cents on a gallon @ 1.80?

i know the bay area is higher but the avg income is higher too.i don''t think hybrids are such a good deal, when it''s time to replace the fuel cell, look out.

so hybrids just get into your pocket later.

It''s $2.39 a gallon here, but just a little over a week ago I paid $1.79.

Time for a Hybrid! My SIL has a honda hybrib and probably only fills it twice a month
just wait until she have to replace the fuel cells
23.gif
thats when they get you on those hybrids.

Yeah, but it''s still worth it. My Civic Hybrid is just over a year old. I''ll sell it/trade it before I hit 50-60K and get another one (or whatever other new technology is out there.) Between the MPG (low 40''s for the Civic both city and hwy) and the ultra-low emissions, it just makes ecological/ethical sense to me. (personal values, not a bully pulpit)

$2.49
$2.61
$2.71

I drive about 50 miles per day for work but with all the other running around I do in the evenings and weekends I end up doing about 20-25k miles per year - probably why I bought a diesel

PS. and that is only one of the 2 cars

Well, I just went to fill up this morning and I spent $23.00 on a half tank. A couple months ago I spent $23.00 to fill up the entire tank. The cheapest gas in my area now is $2.25. WOW!

Plus let''s face it, I''d like to ride in the HOV lane when I''m driving by myself! That''d be a big selling point for me with the hybrid...since you CAN drive in the HOV lane in a hybrid regardless of how many people are in the car...at least in NoCal...

These are about the prices around my region as well. . .

You know what really sucks? My husband and I are driving down to Portland (from North Seattle) in a couple weekends from now with my kids and another family member and there isn't enough room in my Subaru for all of us, so we're borrowing my MIL's SUV.

I have NO idea how much this drive is going to cost because I'm too scared to calculate it out. . .

$2.25 here on the east coast of Florida. My commute is 750 miles a week to/from work. I sure miss Montreal and the public transit system.

Those are the prices I''m paying too. The plus is that that I work only 1.1 miles from work, the minus is that my car only takes premium.

2.35-2.39 a gallon for the lowest grade in NY....horrible!!!!
